...Am i the only one in thinking Kenny's being a canny so and so with his transfer targets? Whilst many look to foreign fields for new talent to bring to the premiership, i personally think Kenny's decision to bring in British talent through the spine of the team will serve us well over the coming season's.

Many knock Henderson's price, but other club's have spent more and got less. Some questioned Carroll's signing, but the lad is a throw back to a bygone era. A strong, tall forward who'll take a kicking from center half's and still comeback for more, tremendous in the air and a howitzer in his left foot, in partnership with Suarez could cause many center half's nightmare's.

The future of Liverpool's defence, Kelly, Wilson, Flannagan and Robinson maybe. All British, all young, all have tremendous potential. Kelly before his injury, would have walked young player of the season in my opinion. And Flannagan looks like a future England right back in the making. Wilson looks as composed on the ball as "Jockey" Hansen, the best center half this island has produced aside from Sir Bobby.

Even midfield. Henderson, Spearing and the ever improving Lucas have the ability to run our engine room for years. All can play, all can mix it when required, and all can run all day for fun.

Look at the great teams over the years and they all have one thing in common a British heart beat, United with Keane,Scholes, Shagger and Beckham gave English football one of the best quartets it's ever seen. Look back further our Great side's of the 70's and 80's.. British spine's. And in recent year's Chelsea's key player's Terry and Lampard more British than Roast beef.

Yes, we all love flair and what quality foreigner's bring to the game. But look at Arsenal as a prime example..Like a page 3 girl pretty to look at, you like them, but they have no real substance, they look at time's like if you said "boo" they'd all cry!!

So Kenny's British heart, in my opinion is the right way to go. As it's been shown time nd time again, heart, desire and determination are as key as breath taking skill, in order to win things. That is surely what all Liverpool fans want to see happening again at Anfield.

You need English players for that home grown rule, if that is still going ahead.

    Excellent article.
I hope this article doesn't descend into the nonsense, your previous excellent article did descend into with that nitwit MUFC Jimbo.
However I stil think there is nothing wrong with a bit of continental flair. However you have pointed that already by mentioning a ''British Backbone''.
I completely agree with this judgement.I do want to see players that show enthusiasm, and I think we've got three already in Suarez and Carroll and Henderson that should be the bench-mark for additional signings. They must show the same levels of enthusiasm as these three have shown
I'm also promoting this thread to article as its excellent.

KPR..With Carra and Stevie nearing the twilight of their career's, two better rolemodels for the youngsters to learn from, i think you'd struggle to find. Both live and breath LFC, they'll install what it means to wear that red shirt and walk out in front of the Kop. The real hope i have have is young Sterling gets a few games next season, that lad has the real wow factor.

taking a break from the other thread???

I like the idea of bringing in some of the best homegrown talent but it is at quite a premium cost and only time will tell if it was a good decision. Henderson is quite a gamble imo, doubtless potential but realising that potential is a completely different manner and the price tag won't do anything to help that. It's the same with Phil Jones and Man Utd. I like the idea of homegrown players being the backbone along the centre of a team but I really think you need those foreign flair players in creative positions on the pitch such as on the wings and up front.

I agree with this article, Man Utd have always had a core of British players in their dressing room and it's done them no harm. They sign them up at a young age and mold them into Manchester United players and watch them flourish for the next 10 years or so in the first team while Man Utd kept their dominance going with a steady stream of young homegrown talent.

People can talk all they want about how British players can't do this and British players can't do that, but that's not what signing British is about. When you sign a British player over a foreign player you'll get someone who can converse with his fellow team mates easier, you've got someone who understands the history of the club and what the fans like from their players and you've also got someone that won't be attracted by the bright lights of a Spanish or Italian club.

Rafa noticed the lack of homegrown players at the club and tried to fix that by signing Johnson, Keane etc but was hampered by the owners lack of funds when he tried to sign further homegrown players like Shawcross, Turner and Barry. Now that Kenny's here I'd say he's probably been conversing with Rafa about the lack of homegrown players in the team and that it had to be fixed one way or another.

This policy might dissapoint some that we're not going for star foreign players but I personally am delighted that we're trying to rebuild a team full of local(ish) talent instead of foreign imports who will, in most cases, go home at one stage of their career.

It would be deleted if I posted it on the Liverpool board as it would be considered wumming and I don't intend to wum on the Liverpool board. Molby just starts throwing a fit when I comment on any of his articles, pathetic little girl.

    Excellent point.
If we could find some overseas players with a similar atitude to Pepe,Kuyt and Lucas, then that would be brilliant.

Look up the word irony in the dictionary and this will be shown as an example.

You need to grow up and stop thinking that every comment by a Man Utd fan is intended as a wum.

You probably think irony, is something your mum does to your school shirts. Twice you've set about fooking up sensible articles, twice you've been shown up to be a brainless prick. Now i know your obviously thicker than Phil Taylor's waistline, but surely even someone with your low IQ gets the message. Debate fine, no problem. But all you've done is thrown insults, me i hate dickhead's, you are one. I'll treat you like a dickhead, i.e i have no respect or time for you.

I posted a similar article to the one Jimbo posted on the Man United board, called ''Some Manchester United fans'' praising the likes of Four,Swarbs and UIR for their decent debate and banter.and condemning nitwits like MUFCOK,Jimbo and Corbo.
    I'll probably get in trouble,but I don't care.
