So when would be an appropriate time to think about it. After a second consecutive Premiership survival or more?
10 years time minimum and only then if he achieves worthiness, you have to be very special like clough, charles, and Mathews to even think anyone would even think about a statue of brendan this early in his career..
At this point in time,a plaque to record the culmination of a very special journey, strategically placed, would be appropriate. However,a statue of B.R. at this time, would not be appropriate. IMHO.
martinez deserves recognition before brendan after all he started the type of football we play now....
Not now anyway , all this speculation with him going sort of puts an air of doom with some fans .Where will it stop , hows about one for Tosh ,he managed us for longer with a more spectacular rise through the leagues (admittedly a rapid decent then followed ) Different times and type of play but never the less a famous period in history of the club
Sorry but no statues or plaques or anything for a manager of the club, I don't think they have earned it! Has Alex Ferguson got one at Old Trafford ? If he has he deserves it, but can't see it.
By way of clarification, the plaque I was suggesting would be to celebrate the achieving of Premier League status, first Welsh Club, etc.,and not meant for B.R. Bonymaens comment re Toshack is a very pertinent one. As for Alex Ferguson, and Old Trafford,I simply don't see the relevance of that comment. What they do is up to them.
the prem is just a name change for money vetch................do you think any different really????is it worth the plack really ............................maybe cardiff should get one up for malky being the first manager 2 get a welsh club 2 the league cuP final saying that rogers did work somewhere at chelsea when mourine was incharge, thats gotta be worth atleast a cesar type bust placed in the local frankie and bennys
And I can't see the relevance of putting up statues and plaques up for people that have achieved hardly anything in life. I prefer to leave that to people who have actually made a difference, sorry but sports people for the most part are not exactly heroes , they don't actually do anything apart from providing entertainment, and that is it.
Swansea City reaching The Premier League is worth recording for posterity. Cardiff City are at liberty to record their unsuccessful League Cup Final attempt any way they wish. Now,a plaque outside HMRC Offices in London, well, that's a bit different...!!! How many appearances was it? I forget now.
valley, you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about this. I have not suggested erecting a statue to any person, merely,a plaque to record a historical event that happens to rate pretty highly to the followers of Swansea City F.C. I have formed the impression that you are a closet Man. Utd.fan. Anyway, nobody is erecting anything,so you can just chill.
No I don't support man utd, why do you ? It's a discussion I have an opinion on it , sorry you don't like my thoughts but I have no bee in my bonnet and don't see what difference it would make if I did.
Bored with this one now valley. No,I have no interest in Man. Utd.,but I seem to recall that you brought them into the thread initially. That sort of gave me the idea that you had a certain thing for them. You are,of course, entitled to your thoughts on any subject, but you just seemed so dead against the idea of any sort of recognition of Swans' achievement. Nobody was asking you for a donation.
all he will have is like all the managers we have had down the years and that is a photo hanging in the hall of fame in swans trophy room of past managers.....nothing else, he is passing through and using us as a stepping stone to higher things.....just another manager folks.....who next?
If you are bored with it why do you keep on replying ? I brought the man utd thing in to give some context on what has been done at a club that has won everything with ferguson, do I admire him , yes I do, do I support that club, no I don't ! I am with Superswan and his comment above, Rodgers is just another manager who will pass through, the same for the players.
its not us that`s not paying monies 2 people its owned 2 dude we got screwed by sam and are still paying for it>>>>key word there is PAYING. as for the failed cup .....not in many peoples eyes dude we won a lot of respect that day just the same as you boys are getting out of the prem league......have you won the prem league no man utd could have finished 15 games ago and yuou still wouldnt have had a sniff at silverware...........but hey ho its about taking part not the winning anyway like some of the real guys say above brendas done fk all apart from carry on what was there before...........and if a club comes knocking he be gone pronto .................put a statue up of him funny as fk
