Since the shooting of Mark Duggan, we have all seen film footage and had reports of the 'rioting' which has spread all over London. It started in Tottenham, then Enfield and Wood Green; Islington, Lewisham, Clapham, Brixton, Croydon, Ealing etc. It now appears to have started in Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool and Manchester. The 'rioting' would seem to be an orgy of looting, arson, destruction - well-coordinated by means of social media. There has been a lot of consumer goods stolen from shops, etc - TVs, mobile phones, sports gear. Much of this will be used personally by the perpetrators, but there is a limit as to how much. Quite some amount of the stolen goods will likely be converted into cash. A boost for Cash Converters?
Countered with the Cash Converters stores that were looted. I am on holiday at the moment but I hear last night that the rioting got within a few hundred yards of my flat. It just got a bit more real and I wonder what I am going to return to on Friday.
It's very ironic and somewhat amusing that there's a high probability that alot of the stolen loot from any ransacked Cash Converters stores will end up on the shelves of another Cash Converters store just round the corner!
Someone mentioned that on General Chat, and as I said then - "anything that helps my club..." (The fact a man was shot and gangs have been rioting for 3 days is an irrelevant side-note)
