we're 2nd in the league - the way some of our fans are talking its as if we're bottom. Last night we were missing 3/4 best players, we were never going to be at our best. At the start of the season, the target was mid table. We're 2nd,. We should be happy, and enjoying our time at the top end of the league for once. Yes, we were bad last night but it is one terrible performance. One. Over the course of the season, we have been magnificent. Did they deserve to be booed? No way, they have been superb all season. They need our support, and booing the team are only going to make it worse, not better.

The players ARE good enough. You cn't say Harding for example isn't good enough, when he among all the others have had a good season, a good last season and a good season before. Theyve all been consistently good for 3years, and now on the basis of one game, people are saying they aren't good enough. Support the lads, don't slate them. We're all supporters aren't we? Let's pull together, and support the side as they attempt to turn this form around.

    Thoughts?

You don't need stats to make the point. Everyone knows we've not been right for weeks. I don't need telling, Adkins doesn't need telling and indeed any armchair fan with a casual interest doesn't need telling. We have a problem and it needs sorting. Concern I have. I understand why other fans are concerned. I do not understand how anyone thinks booing the team helps!

Harding isnt shocking but I don't think he is good enough for saints especially to start! We need a squad of players that all deserve to start it makes the team hungry to suceed! Look at chappers this year, until he got injured he was fantastic and was getting more consecutive starts than he did in league 1! I think the Adkins doesn't believe Harding isn't good enough and that highlighted by the fact Adkins bought fox for 1.8 million...alot of money to spend on something that wasn't obvious to most before promotion?

Yep, positivity is the way to go. Leicester are the league's moneybags - what can we expect? Oh, how different this forum will look if we win against Cardiff. In my opinion, it wil be a lot tougher a game, though. Maybe we needed to be knocked down a peg (only the one, though, please) to shake the expectations, and the media focus on us. Now we can perhaps get some underdog spirit, and hit the final third running.
Unfortunately, though, that won't apply to a six-pointer. Cardiff game is likely to be the game we look back on at the end of the season and see as the crux game in where we end up. COYR!

I agree with you, but I feel the OP is too positive:

I don't think we can really say things like this anymore. I think we can step it up again and I still believe we can get promoted, but there is a problem (maybe down to injuries, but that exposes the thinness of our squad) that needs addressing.

That's fair, I just hope the players aren't all thinking "We're second! No problem!" as well. I'm sure they aren't.

My guess is that if you had asked Nicola whether we would be in the top 2 in January and he was honest he would have said like most of us did - top half at best. Now we have a real chance I'm sure he will accelerate his plans and do what is necessary.

Agree, the players dont need the fans when its easy and we're winning 4-0 when it may just make a difference is when the backs are against the wall and like other things in life the best supporters are the ones who get behind the team in those moments.

I'm still quite positive. Yes I'm disappointed at the result - I'm always going to be disappointed when Saints lose a league game - but that's all. I've never, ever believed that we will finish in the top two. And with our current squad, I still don't believe it. We were always going to fall away in my opinion, almost certainly once injuries and suspensions took the toll - as they are indeed currently doing - and just I've been bracing myself for this.

I would still bite your hand off for a top 6 finish. It would still be beyond my wildest dreams. As great as our first XI is, the likes of Harding, Martin, Holmes, Forte, De Ridder aren't even top 12 players, let alone top 2 players.

There's nothing wrong with people believing that we are the best or second best team in the division, but in my eyes that simply isn't the case and their bubble was always going to burst. As I say, 6th place = great season, and we are on course for that.
