Orlando Sa have a shot and the ref blows the whistle after the resulting goal kick. Or you could try some fancy crap and get us knocked out of the Europa League. Thanks, I for one am gutted tonight. It could have been so different
We blame Sa all we like but the guy was only on the pitch for 2 minutes. I would like to level some blame to the wasted passes that we gifted them in the centre of the park, the total lack of width we showed in the second half and the lack of desire to get forward and kill the game off against opposition who we should have destroyed. I am sure Jol will get it in the neck as ever, but can we for once question the players as they were the ones to blame for our exit from Europe. Complacency is the inexcusable and we looked as though we thought we should stroll through. Reality check you are on the pitch for 90 minutes plus, so you remain switched on for that entire time. So disappointed, especially as it was my daughters first game at the Cottage.
It should have been so different, how can we play that well in the first half and be so absolutely useless in the second half? I have absolutely no idea what Briggs was doing standing a foot or two away from the wall. All he had to do was join the wall and they wouldn't have scored it. Hopefully this will be a blessing in disguise and we'll buck up in the league.
Jol has to take the blame froggy He came up with the formation to use He decided which players to start He decided which players to take off and bring on You just have to wonder what he said at half time that made our second half performance abysmal.
Graham Taylor - I can't belive I'm giving him credit - called the free kick on Channel 5. After Etheridge lined up the wall, one of their players picked the ball up and put it down 6 inches to a foot further across. That meant the wall wasn't where Etheridge thought it was in relation to the ball, and gave their player room to curl his shot inside the post. GT made the point before the goal was scored. In the post-match analysis they queried whether a more experienced keeper would have scooted along his line one last time to check that the wall was where he wanted, but I don't think we can blame Etheridge for inexperience. He'll learn from this one though.
Bandit, not entirely sure I agree with you on that mate. The first half performance was brilliant, we completely played them off the park. He came up with a formation that worked seamlessly in the first half, he started with players that played brilliantly in the first half. I cannot for one second think he asked those same players to go out and play so badly in the second half. I will say that we looked as though we were playing a little deeper in order to protect a 2 goal lead. If you were him, are you trying to tell me that you would be worried about a partnership of Hughes and Hangeland conceding 2 goals ? Of course not. If he asked us to sit a bit deeper it was because he knew we are more than capable of doing so, as we are. Therefore the blame has to be put firmly on the players shoulders, they failed to do their jobs and we payed the price. As for the subs, I thought Duff looked our most lively player when he came on, although I would have put on the right to get a bit of width. As for Sa, the guy is no good, not fit and not worthy of the shirt. I wish we would stop blaming the manager everytime something goes wrong, the players have to stand up and take some responsibility. If they fail to do what the manager asks, they are i the wrong.
Gutted just got back. Can't believe for once that such a poor team kicked us out. It's both Jol's and the players' fault. Jol because of his negative tactic at Twente and the players because they could not keep the ball for 5 secs in the second half. Zamora disinterested, Briggs out of his depth at times, Hughes can't see a pass forward apart from a hoof. Even Baird and Hangeland made so many mistakes... Disappointing.
But you cannot sack 11 players froggy, whereas you can most certainly sack one manager. I just think he can no longer motivate the team, he's lost Zamora and AJ already, who else is next? Fallings out with Murphy, fining Kasami, the guy is like a tornado sweeping through our dressing room. He says that players don't like him like it's not a problem. Would you put in 100% for a boss you didn't like? I know I wouldn't. The players played for Hodgson and Hughes, for me it is important and necessary for the players to be behind the manager 100%
Its clear that for whatever reason a few of these players do not wanna play for Jol. He has said that some don't like him himself. Now do we swap the manager to please these players who are getting on now in foootball terms and hire someone else who they may like. Or do we sell these players and let Jol get on with lowering the average age and transforming the team. Tough call but I don't think there is any chance of Jol getting the boot as to much of a play was made to get him here in the first place
AJ is sour coz he is not getting a two year fat contract for doing nothing! Bobby has got a new contract and is complaining for doing nothing. Hardly Jol's fault that our strikers can't score! Don't think Murphy has a problem. Kasami was fined because he took the penalty while he was not the designated penalty taker. Good as there is need to be discipline.
Just cash in on the players Gilly... Their value is dropping anyway not because of Jol but because of their learning difficulties!
the thing i would hate would be to cash in on them, and see them go elsewhere and score a bucket, which is exacly what i feel will happen. But yeh, as my first post says i think that is what should hapen and what we should do.
Can't exactly see Zamora or AJ scoring bucket loads! If they do then there is something wrong with us!
Bandit, the point mate is this: These players are signed up on contracts to play for Fulham Football Club, not to play for Martin Jol. It does not matter who the manager is they should be busting a gut to do their best for Fulham Football Club and the fans that live and breath the club. I am sick and tired of hearing about this player does not like the managers style or this player has has a falling out with the manager. They are contracted to play for our club and therefore should be doing exactly hat to the best of their ability. No player is bigger than the club. We have been successful in the past because we have played well as a team: AJ's contract is coming up, so now his opinion is valued, BZ gets a couple of England caps and all of a sudden his feelings mean more than the managers. The fact of the matter is, you play for the club not the manager, so you should be always giving 110%.
Not a big crowd, and I would like my money back for once. One week of BZ wages can give all fans their money back....
Does anybody know why Kasami has fallen out of favour? I was sure he would be getting games this season. He played a bit at the start of the season but doesn't seem to be getting much lately. Has Jol fallen out with him too or is he just not performing in training? Anybody able to shed some light on this?
ireland ... I was wondering about Kasami, too. He was Jol's darling back in September, but now can't seem to get a game at all.
