Living out here in Perth, occasionally get my footy fix watching A league team Perth Glory. We get to stand behind the goal, have a bit of a sing/shout like footy in the 80's in UK Went last Night, Perth v top of league Brisbane, not by any means EPL standard but Never been to a footy match with 7 goals in 1st half, Perth ran out 6-3 winners, 1brisbane goal offside for defo, a penalty for both teams. $20 tickets last night, works out at 10 quid roughly Entertainment value top-notch! Worth every cent
Got a mate who has just joined the Oz navy, is a big Sunderland fan and was there today...small world
Had their biggest crowd of season last night, 12,156 on a 5 game winning streak, good mix of all ages etc, great night out, few scoops before and after etc
Things are on the downturn out here engineering and resource industry wise now. Got maybe till September in current job then who knows. That apart they reckon someone rocks up to live here every 90 secs as an average, great place to live if a little quiet, weather great, beaches knockout. Try seek .com.au
I'd love to mate, but my ship sailed years ago. My first wife and I considered it bug ended up in Saudi. 56 is too old now. My youngest is a qualified engineer and has mentioned it. I'd love him to go and experience it over there, but I might end up breaking his legs before he steps on the plane.
I was 50 when we moved out, had been on holiday, did a wild dolphin swim thing and we stood on the jetty and made a wish to live here, less than 2 years later we were renting a flat overlooking the sea, still love the place 8 years later, yes miss family, a few friends, proper pubs and what have you but wouldn't,t change it
There defo are some around mate. Odd person taken when out swimming etc. I always make sure there,s someone farther out in the water if I go in, old person, kid, don,t care so long as they are my screen. Know a guy who got pushed backwards through the water by a great white when he was diving for lobster, He had his speargun wedged in its mouth, I,d be still washing my wetsuit now. He still goes though. Saw my 1st snake early summer in the 8 years we,ve been here. All these scary critters and you don,t see much at all, odd red back spider in the garden and whatnot, no winters compared to NE England
It's the beer here that makes it worth while mate. Known as "The Amber Nectar" there's nothing quite like it anywhere else in the world. I came in 1967 when I was 29, married and had 3 kids. Loved it straight away and wish I'd come 10 years earlier. First wife hated it and we split up and she came back to UK with the kids and I stayed. Met "The Child Bride" some 6 years after the split (she was 19 and I was 42) and have never looked back. Highly recommend but the old "Land of Milk and Honey" went down the gurgler some time ago when they opened the doors. Nowhere near the situation in the UK though.
Always think that they tend to serve most of beer too cold, you,d never go to Prague and get beer so chilled it kills the taste. Partial to a VB, Roger,s mid strength and a few from some ofthe smaller breweries, think Toohey,s is very average
My nephew is a huge Sunderland fan. We went many years together until he emigrated 4 years ago. He flew back from Aussie for 3 days for the league cup final. Nearly cost him his relationship as he spent their planned wedding savings. It went ahead. Anyway he now gets his fix from Perth Glory. I've got video of him in the home end of the game you were at bouncing up and down.with his mates.
