Until the new season kicks off!! <yikes>

I can't remember being as intrigued at the beginning of a season as this. I truly have no idea if we will live up to last years exploits now that we've lost Suarez. So far we've added 6 new players, with the likelihood of another 2 being added in the shape of Manquillo (spelling?) and Moreno.

We desperately need a striker too and I can't believe that we'll head into yet another season with Brad Jones as our back up keeper. So probably 9 or 10 new signings. (10 would be one CB away from buying a completely new team!!! <laugh>) That's a very large number of people to absorb into a squad imo and may well cause a wobble or two. I just hope that while we get the season underway, we remain relatively injury free.....Losing key players like Studge or Sterling while others settle in could seriously hinder us. We've already lost Lallana which is very unfortunate.

Regardless of where you stand on our signings, for years i've been cursing that we need to spend £20m+ on a player (as per Suarez) to ensure we get the quality required.....Well this year, we've got a few of them....but lost one of the best players in the world. Will it be enough? Will some of this raw talent step up? The intrigue and anticipation is massive!!

I'll personally be happy if we scrape into a top 4 finish this year after such upheaval.....my expectations are no higher than that. However, I hope to be as surprised as I was last year! <ok>

with so many new signings and the chances are we will not be as lucky with injuries to key players as we were last year, I would be happy with top 4 then push on next season. I think teams that are built over several seasons have more long term success than buying loads of top expensive players who all age at the same time.

Agreed. Would be nice to have to only add one or two quality players next few seasons and promote one or two of the youth. We are going to have an extremely young side next year too. If Gerrard's out, we'll lack experience on the pitch.......so top four in this transitional year would be great! <ok>

I really don't feel we're ready for the season, I feel we are so incomplete without Suarez somehow. Even though he would be suspended anyway. I still think we need another class attacking signing

I have the exact same feeling. Not having Sturridge, Lallana or Markovic available for the last couple of games hasn't helped either!!

As ever, I'll hope that we can compete for the title and win it, I want us to finish in the top four again so we can continue improving across the squad which'll set us up better for the coming seasons, but I'm anticipating a slow start initially with some draws and losses until the team settle. I think we'll play our best football post Christmas, but hopefully we're close enough that it'll count.

Im not looking forward to it, rival fans have 100% told us our signings are all crap, BR will be found out and we're doomed. What is the point in us even turning up?

Unless Rodgers pulls a rabbit out of the hat signing wise I can't see us anywhere near the title.

Currently suspect City will run away with it. Chelsea will pip Arse for 2nd. We'll be isolated in 4th, no threat to 3rd place team and then there will be a bit of a gap to United and Everton fighting for Europa.

    All depends on signings though.

The last 2 posts are telling.

anyway, going to be a great season all round. loads of strong sides, quality new players coming to the league and managers with history coming to carry on their fight over here.

The summers been decent for sport but it was all just filler at the end of the day.

Still ages left for loads of clubs to buy loads of players tbh. The likes of Liverpool, City and United still need players.

I also think City may save you guys in terms of top 4. They are my pick to drop out. Can they even participate this season?

I agree with much of the above. As it stands, I can't see us getting top 4. I think we have spent over the odds on players who have certainly improved our squad, but doesn't make the starting XI look stronger than it was last season.

Thus far the only signing I'm pleased with is Can, I don't think the defence issue has been properly addressed as yet, and we need a bloody good striker to come in.

If we replaced Suarez with a 15-20 goal a season striker, and tightened up at the back and conceded 15 less than last year (which is a fair target) we would be better off goal difference wise than last season.

We have got Suarez and Reina off the books, and should try to get shot of GJ as well. That would be £400k pw saving in wages, you could use some of that and half the Suarez money to buy a worldie.

I think Chelsea and Arsenal have improved their starting XIs and both will finish ahead of us, City will probably do better than us too. We will be competing with the likes of United, Spurs and Everton for fourth.

I don't have that much faith in our recruitment policy, as we have signed far more dead weight than we have good players over the last 3-4 years, and this summer we have still not sorted our main issues. But I think Assaidi and Borini and maybe Lucas will go, we will have a lot of money to spend, and 2 or 3 GOOD signings over the next month could change things completely.

I just wish we got Sanchez and Shaqiri.

I think Lovren will turn up trumps and help to bring the best out of Sakho. Really happy we have both of them as I've wanted them both at Liverpool for a few years now. Hopefully they can settle quickly and if they do, our defense (well, CBs) will be golden. Fullbacks is another issue though
