to the start of the New Season. (Thankfully we have the Euro's in-between) oh and the Premier League fixtures will be released on June 15 The transfer rumours have already started and as usual we will be linked to a shed load of players with a number of the old names cropping up. Realistically what would be your ideal scenario by the time we hit 13th August 2016, 1) Who would you like as Chief Executive? 2) What type of statement do you want to hear from Ellis Short? 3) The big question, who would you like us to sign, position and why? 4) Who should we keep and let go? 5) Who do you want to play in the first 6 games? Something to start us off over the next 86 days and feel free to add any other questions to the list. Now I'll go away and think about my answers which will no doubt change over the course of the next 12 weeks. Stay happy and keep smiling at survival and think of the poor souls down the road looking at their maps to see where Burton and Rotherham play.. . KTF
1. Don't care as long as their 'qualified' for the job, sensible enough not to make controversial decisions and don't command a ridiculously high, unearned wage like their predecessor . 2. Don't want to hear anything from Ellis. Let his cheque book do the talking. Leave the patter to Big Sam. 3. Signings? I don't know. Anyone who improves the first team. I'd like to see at least one player for each position really. Other threads have suggested problem areas and suitable players like eg Tim Klose as CB cover. Picking random names from my shortlist: Youri Tielemans. Gonna be a cracking player. Maybe Izzy Brown on loan from Chelsea or Nathan Oduwa from Spurs. They're all youths mind so big gambles. Looking forward to the Euros unearthing some unknowns. Anyone to chip in with goals and assists. I'm confident in Sam's team after our outstanding January window (hell of an act to follow - don't get your hopes up). 4. Let the contracts of Brown, Fletcher, Graham, Harper, Roberge, Mavrias expire. Make loans of M'Vila, Yedlin and Toivonen permanent. Get Kirchhoff on a 5 year extension. Try to offload Matthews, Coates, Vergini, Bridcutt, Gomez, Buckley. And convince Lens he needs to work harder for the team. Is so he can stay, if not he can go. 5. I'd like to keep it the same as we finished the season (barring the Watford changes). For the first time in a long time we had a settled team who knew what their roles were and worked hard for each other. Above all I'd like to see us fit and raring to go, ready and willing to fight in every game from the start of the season to the end.
All of this! Apart from the Toivonen bit and the bit about playing the same side as the end of this season- hopefully some of that starting 11 will have been replaced by some better quality signings.
I reckon question 4 should be answered first, about 9 players out get the wage bill down etc. 1)I would like to be chief executive if on nearly £600,000 a year !. 2) I would like Ellis to say he will give Sam the backing for 4 quality players in the summer. 3) One big name striker, another Khazri and Kirchoff a left back so PVA can move on the wing. 5) Boro H, C Pal A, Everton H, Burnley A, Stoke H, WBA A.
I guess I must have asked too many questions here or it's too early to get into a good debate ahead of the new season..
I think that's it, too much up in the air to really get stuck into a debate. As long as we build a team around Toivonen though, that's the main thing...apparently.
