8 years ago we was all disagreeing over the new manager at the club.
Hopefully this round of arguments will be similar and can look forward to a successful year next year.
Thank you Steve Cotterill for showing us that fans bleat on but don’t know a good manager when they see one. Just wished your argument with the board prevented you from being so stubborn. Even when we were losing in your first season, the football was entertaining.

Agree with this, sadly like the sacking of GJ our owner was left with little choice because of non playing issues that caused both sackings, although the sacking of Cotterill could have gone badly wrong because of the Russian roulette approach by both parties.

I liked Cotts, always did, I really was sorry to see him go but he was so stubborn about 352, some of my happiest days, let us hope we can have them back ASAP.

He could have made that work had the club backed him over the signings that he had lined up.

His leaving was ultimately over another issue.

amazing ..3-5-2 was his way and I suppose with the right players works! Worked in the lge 1 as we scored goals had a good defence and just missed out on 100pts!

But the games were still entertaining, like mentioned he could of had his signings like Maguire and others if not for that idiot who tried to renegotiate on deals Cotts set up.

Agreed , he knew the system he wanted to play and the individuals he needed to achieve it. Had we gone along with that approach think how much cheaper it would have been I’m the long run rather than the scatter gun approach we took, and possibly more successful. SC is always accused and of being stubborn, and I guess he was, but so was SL, If he’d allowed SC to do what he wanted to do who knows.

That’s an undeniable fact, but not really relevant. We believe given a chance to buy the players he’d earmarked at the time he could well have made us successful. He wasn’t given the chance that I believe he’d earned by our performance the previous year. What we are sure about is a scatter gun approach doesn’t work. We are now all saying what we need is a system and to buy players to fit that system . Notice any similarities?

I think it is relevant as you are only guessing if given the finances we would have been successful...No other club was willing to give him that chance either.
Scatter gun with pellets doesn't work I agree, nor does taking away the heavy artillery that we had...

Of course we’ll never know as he wasn’t given the chance to find out. What other clubs did or didn’t do is not my concern. Other teams have successfully taken the approach he was advocating ie having a system and buying players to fit that system. I believe it’s what Nige would like to do also.
    Edit
I would add some of the players did go on to have rather successful careers, One of which presently plays for Man U & England.

Please tell me what system NP is trying to achieve?
Who's to say that Maguire wanted to come here?...... What I can remember some of the players we were looking to make a move on wasn't interested in coming here..
Cott's IMO had a system that worked perfectly in league 1.....but lost his way when we got to the championship... so much so, no other club were willing to take their chances..

He wasn’t allowed to upgrade the players like he wanted , I believe Maguire was agreed, we then tried to reduce the offer , whereby we were told to do one. SL wanted to establish ourselves SC wanted to go for it straight away using momentum from our promotion. What I do remember is there being a falling out between SL & SC over it, and obviously there was only ever going to be one winner

Well most of what went on, we don't know, so total speculation....but the fact that he's not been offered anything since at this level, tells me SL might have got it right on that occasion.. but I am thankful for what he achieved for us in league 1..

AD got us promotion to Div 1, but no one offered him a second chance to do it, working on your logic that would suggest he just got lucky with us .
