Not sure about this to be honest, I know keepers waste a lot of time but they get booked for it eventually and this will create issues. I would imagine we will see a lot more goalies of teams a goal up going down with cramp from all the walking around in their box in the 85th min now. As the article says there was a huge increase in added on time when they implemented the rule and now... not so much anymore and I can see this one going the same way, a few seasons of betting on over 10 corners a game and then the rule will get forgotten fairly quickly after. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwyg7jyp82do
already said 5 seconds for a throw in, 10 secs for a goal kick/corner/ free kick. if goalie takes more than 10 secs a penalty awarded to the other side, no excuses the ballboy gives the ball/puts the ball down, for throw ins the other team gets the throw in(after timewasting) do it 3 times and the player gets booked, and no matter what happens on the pitch they have to take the goal kick/free kick/throw in/corner in the time allocated, and a countdown computer voice counts the secs down. no sitting down on the pitch allowed, player goes off and a replacement comes on for the time he gets treatment on side of pitch. There bring them rules in cos Hull where the biggest culprits ever last week must be crap to watch.
I would add goal ‘celebrations’. Thirty seconds to celebrate and get back in position. After 30 seconds the team who conceded the goal can kick off and continue with the game regardless as to where the scoring team are and if a member of the goal scoring team interferes with play without having returned to their half first then it’s an automatic booking.
The 8 second rule if brought in will fade into obscurity the same way the 6 second rule did When was the last time you seen a goalie get penalised for holding onto the ball for longer than 6 seconds ? Even though the law is still enforceable It goes down to the ****ty refs not adhering to the Laws of the Game Like many other decisions the ref just makes it up as they go along I've said this for years
All teams do it including us. It just gets a touch irritating to wait 2 minutes or more just to get the game restarted. Similar with substitutions. 15 seconds to get off. Fail to do so and your substitute can’t come on for 5 minutes. Time wasting is killing the game at times. The authorities should start doing something effective to stop it.
They didn’t need to make a rule change - just properly enforce the 6 second rule. Other sports do it with automatic clocks with penalties for exceeding time limits. Just let out a high-pitched beep when 6 seconds have elapsed and, if ball still with goalkeeper, ref gives indirect free-kick. Just adding more hassle for refs by making them do this manually.
This is quite the read, it starts off vaguely sane with decent points, then rapidly descends into some dystopian vision of football from the Terminator, had the machines won. The computer voice is a particular highlight, along with the hard-line stance on sitting down.
