does anyone have a whisper or any info on when these players may decide to rejoin the first team squad? Bellamy got an ankle injury and seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. What's the state of progress with Smith? Mutch has a mysterious 'nerve' problem with his foot. What's going on?
I thought all this wonderous sports medical technology was supposed to make injuries less likely and also to bring players back faster and stonger?
You think the club that cares so much about the poor old supporter would give us some info, at least give us a clue or explain what the problems are.
Nothing worse than watching them losing away from home all the time knowing 4 of your best players are sitting on their arses somewhere.
Even if we knew it was going to be 6 weeks it would be better than hoping every game only to be thoroughly jacked off when the team is announced again.

I think that's a very fair point Snaggs.

We know we are "only supporters", but it would be quite decent of the club if they issued regular updates on player injuries and the progress they are making toward playing again.

I don't think that's too much to ask. It's not that we require or should expect a detailed medical dossier, but treatment, progress and expeced availability dates would be valued by those of us who pay for the priviledge of watching the team.

It's hardly going to let the cat out of the bag an give the opposition some sort of advantage before any matchday team is announced.

Knowing that Maynard is out long term, Smith and Bellers for a couple more weeks (as far as we are aware) and Mutch has his foot nerve issue is okay but we really need to know about the absentees and guys who went off on Saturday, Connolly and McNaughton in particular.

If those 2 are out for Middlesbrough then we are looking very thin at the back. Gunnar did a great job (with support from Noone) but a better side will target our right hand side and, of course, we miss Gunnar's drive in midfield.

It wouldn't surprise me if McNuggs is not fit this week (looked like a painful upper thigh muscle or hip problem from when he tried to delicately lift the ball over the defence with the outside of his right foot - what was he thinking of?) although he has a track record of getting over some knocks pretty quickly - apart from hamstring injuries. But what is wrong with Connolly or was he a scapegoat for Charlton and Bolton? Also, what is Cowie's problem?

I assume the 8th one is Kiss, after last Saturday's performance, ah well........................

However, to get the win with 8 (okay 7) front line players out speaks volumes for the squad strength against a good Hull team - who didn't play to their best - but will we be so lucky against Middlesbrough? We need McNuggs, Connolly and Cowie back pronto tonto to preserve the squad strength as we can't rely on Ralls and Nugent every game.

We actually know nothing about Bellamy Mutch and Smith, let alone 'a couple more weeks'! It could be Christmas for all we know and in this league by then we could be 14th FFS

Calm down Xsnaggs, Malky said a couple more weeks last week for Bellers and Smith. Okay that could extend as we don't know the full extent of the injuries but we are used to doing without them and got stuffed at Palace when they both played. We haven't seen Mutch for weeks anyway and I believe he was a bit of a sicknote with previous clubs.

We will know more about the other absentees towards the end of the week when Malky does his pre match press conferences.

No point in us going on about anyway other than by discussion as we won't influence any outcomes.

    :emoticon-0112-wonde Really?

I thought Malcolm read this board regularly and acted appropriately BfB?

Does seem all a bit misterious particularly Bellars.

isnt bellamy having family issues at the moment, is that the real reason he's out? i hope its nothing more than a niggling injury as malky said, though managers do sometimes lie about injuries......

smith and mutch we need back fairly soon, but we're very lucky that we've got quality to replace quality, the only problem is that we dont have quality to replace quality to replace quality ..... <laugh> though it was great to see ralls back, every club needs a youngster threatening to break through....

Malky did say we'd see the squad utilised through the season.

    Wonder when we'll see Eti?

ITIWRAN if there is "No point in going on about it because we can't influence anything" they may as well shut the whole of 606 down completely because evidently we have no power to influence anything that is discussed on here.

:emoticon-0138-think:emoticon-0138-think........Hmmm......I feel a bit of mediation is necessary here.

Whether we can influence club policies or not is not the real question fellas.

The real point is should we discuss our club on here in a civilised manner and respect the various opinions expressed, especially those that might differ from our own?........

..........or do we end up like the Jack board?.............<laugh>

It's all that flirting with Minxy that's made you think that.

There are things that we can't infuence, but it doesn't stop us expressing our views.

I see Connolly is available for Saturday. Frei is off with the Turkish squad for the nextfew days and Harris went off injured (again) in the development game last night.

The bigger concerns are Smith, Bellamy and Mutch. The first two aren't being mentioned though there is mention of Mutch's mystery nerve problem.

Sparkey hits the point in his last sentence. I totally endorse that.

Perhaps I didn't phrase my post very well (apologies for that although I did say "by discussion") but my point was there is no value in getting exasperated on here with the lack of information from the club on injuries. Certainly express opinions but going off on one won't solve anything particularly in this case where there was news released on the fitness of the 3 longer term injuries last week.

I see ccfc has an update but I expect more information particularly on Connolly, Cowie and McNaughton later in the week.

With the wide variety of media outlets available to all I am tad surprised at the lack of, injury related, news coming from the club. Having said that it's a double edged sword. If the club states someone is about to return and then that player sustains the same injury in practice then will we believe them? Some would think "oh yeah, a likely story", some "FFS, why give him full training if he ain't fully fit!" Some may even say "liars, his injury was far worse and they didn't want to admit it!".
Who'd managed a footy club heh.
