A real up and down match. Great start but then for last 35 mins of the first half Col U far the better team and deservedly back to 2-2. Second half much more even, few clear chances but Grant posing a consistent threat. Bully kept us in it right at the end with a great one-on-one save. A poor challenge from Sandell for the penalty, but credit to the Blues for keeping going and just reward for the hard working Beavon with a great strike for 3-3. High quality shoot out with neither side looking like they would miss, until Bully saved the last kick for Col U from Rose. 1. I'm still not clear why the ref blew his whistle after we took the free kick for the fist goal. I assumed he'd blown for pushing in the area, but obviously not. Perahps he blew for the free kick to be taken without realising we'd already re-started. 2. Godd to see Harris get a start. Confidence probably not helped by a fresh air cross in the first half but did OK. Also good to see Ibe come on and not look out of place with the men. 3. Well done to Marvin for being prepared to take a pen and also to Harding, especially to take the 5th one. 4. Fair play to John Ward. Instead of marching off down the tunnel at the end (which would have been understandable) he hung around to shake hands with each of our players as they came off the pitch - bearing out what GW said about him in the programme.
Followed the game on the BBC website, looks like we left our shooting boots at home with the number of 'Shots off target'. Good to read that JW took the time in all his disapointment to shake hands with all the Wycombe players, hopefully the game and our managers actions has healed a lot of the bad feelings between our clubs. Will be hunched over the laptop again on Saturday, would love to be there. Hope you get a good home draw on Thursday.
cheers monarch, whatever the result on saturday i will give an honest match report on sunday,i hope you enjoy listening to the game ,but not too much eh
