Well guess many of you were there, and maybe you witnessed the greatest ever event at wembley.

Sunderland's famous 1973 FA Cup Final win over Leeds is in the running to be crowned as Wembley's greatest event ever.

Wembley Stadium have begun the search to find the greatest event ever held at the famous ground.

Sunderland's 1973 FA Cup Final win over Leeds United has been included in the Greatest Events shortlist, which also includes famous moments such as Live Aid in 1985, the 1963 fight between Henry Cooper and Cassius Clay, and Charlton's dramatic play-off final victory over the Black Cats in 1998.

The 1973 final, where Sunderland secured the Cup for a second time, will be forever remembered as one of the greatest moments in the club's history thanks to Ian Porterfield's famous goal and Jimmy Montgomery's magnificent double save.

And there would be no better tribute to the spirit of 73, than a victory in the greatest ever events poll.
 
I remember BBC veteran, Maurice Eddlestone, shouting after the '73 final whistle "I've never seen scenes like this at Wembley ... I've never seen scenes like this at Wembley!" Maurice had covered every cup final since the war, and the World Cup final in '66. So there's no doubt the '73 final deserved to be nominated.

I haven't seen the list, but I hope the 1948 Olympic events are in it. The world was re-building and no country could afford an Olympic Games. I'm proud that Britain - with financial help from Coca Cola - took it on. The whole world needed to lighten up right then, to get past the bad thoughts and a lot of **** that had happened. Events like the Olympics helped. London was significant, too, as the last Olympics (1936) had been in Berlin, and had a little man with a moustache presiding!
 
I never saw the goal as I was jumping up because I thought the ball was going in the net. Had to buy the video to see it. Ias violently sick over a wall after the match.
