70's music

i know a lot of blues fans on here are probably too young to comment but the music scene in the seventies had a lot to offer.did anyone on here go to the sex pistols or the clash or the jam gigs .or even the first live aid at the old wembley stadium.good old days and some serious music with lyrics of meaning of the desperate times we suffered,ie no jobs and no future due to the recession .i remember going to the first live aid concert at wembley when freddie mercury and queen stole the show,they were superb,and the same night i watched dire straits at wembleys empire pool next door,truly great times to watch live bands.

 

Unfortunately I missed the 70s Rocky, was born in 1982. My dad went to see a lot of good music at that time and still does today!! I'm definitely a gig man as well and have just come off the back of a good week with Coldplay on Tuesday in Coventry and then went to Fatboy Slim on Saturday in Brighton as part of a stag weekend.

 

I remember my first gig seeing the Q Tips ( fronted by Paul Young).
Also vividly remember seeing Bad Manners at he Queenswy Hall in Dunstable. The skinheads bottled the support group, then raided the stage and nicked most of the set. I was outside after bad manners refused to come on anymore when some huge skinhead was going on about how brilliant it was, he then produced the microphone out of his pocket.....lol

 

I am even before that I remember seeing groups like the Herd, Love Affair, Amen Corner, Jnr Walker & probably a few more all at the town hall in Wycombe this was mid to late 1960's. I can even remember a pop concert at Loakes Park sometime in the mid 1960's. Any body else on here old enough to remember these. I have one gripe over the Diamond Jubilee why do they celebrate it a year early. Born & bred in High Wycombe on Coronation Day in 1953 with two others.

 

Slasher have you forgotten about when you saw bing crosby make his first live performance.lol

Although I'm too young to have fully appreciated 60's music, I first became interested in music aged around 9 and Love Affair is one of the bands that got me into it, now I love listening to 60's stuff. 70's music is the music of my youth and I love it still. To me with only a few exceptions (Dire Straits being one) 80's music was the start of the rot and IMO the worst decade. There is still good stuff around today but on the whole it is rubbish but then I guess all generations say the same when they get to my age
