I've had enough of twitter forever!

I recognise some have said their pessimistic feelings right now have nothing to do with the twitter posts of players over the past couple months, but I can't help but feel that's at the centre of everything right now.

Time travel back a couple months and we all were supporting the dismissal of Carroll as a good piece of business, or at least we could almost all agree that he was the engineer of his transfer. Jump ahead to Nolan's sale, and I think many of us might agree that Cabaye is good business too, along with the other french lads. I understand we all want another striker or two, BUT, if no other players left this summer, would we be calling ourselves a selling club on the road to relegation? I don't think so.

Instead, twitter rants from Enrique, Barton, and now others have set the club ablaze, with everyone and their aunt calling for heads, and looking for the nearest motorway to play in. Let's all remember that it's Jose who wants to leave, and Nolan who wanted a long contract, and Joey who can't keep his mouth shut, they're the ones who have stirred up this vile atmosphere that's grown bigger than the original problem.

If this was all about Newcastle being a 'selling club', Barton and Enrique would already have been in the trolly and out the door. The players have manufactured this problem, and now we're all paying for it.

**** twitter rants from players, **** the transfer rumours from hack journalists that lead to disappointment, **** having to resort to follow matches on twitter at 2:30am.

Agreed, the rants from Joey and Jose makes the club look like its in chaos, when its only these two who are complaining.
Jose had a twitter account closed for talking about the club and now he's at it again.

  5. He's been placed on the transfer list, it doesn't mean he has to go

This was written before that news broke, my point moreso was that their rants became a self-fulfilling prophecy, and the club may never have gone about selling so many players if the players themselves didn't use twitter and every other means possible to talk so much **** about the club all spring and summer

As many other people have alluded to, the main problem with twitter, combined with opinionated, ill advised or just plain stupid footballers, is that it leads to unprofessional comments which infuriate the club, the hierarchy and the fans.

He doesn't care about staying, his actions (and words) despite prefacing them saying he wants to stay, speaks volumes.
Just like when he came out saying how **** all of the England midfielders and how he deserved to be in the side, sure he was right, they were all awful, but he also knew when saying it to the media would only serve to ensure he never made it into the national squad. He's not an idiot, he knows the effects of his words, but he cares more about saying them.

It's selfish of him to say what he says, he didn't care about the fans when he said it, or improving the club, he just loves being controversial and speaking his mind. He doesn't care who it screws over, in this case, the fans.

I put this in the big thread just before the board exploded (ignore the psycho comments, relevant to that thread):

Have to say, social networking has no place in football. Firstly, Psycho, you don't understand how facebook works. There isn't hell on, on facebook, some people YOU KNOW who can't spell are chuntering about riots.

Regarding Twitter, imagine if it were around when we sold Andy Cole. I can't imagine @J3Bez, or @Venisonshair being quite as pathetic as Simpson, Routledge (I don't get picked, boooo!) et al. Players get signed, players leave. Thats ****ing football. This isn't a comment on the Barton situation in particular, simply that this sort of stuff should remain professional, and in private as it always used to be.

Agree with you totally. Barton has followed his own agenda and is totally responsible for being in the position he is in. If it wasn't for the gap we will be left in the team I would be glad to be shot of him.

But he's been released on a free! Someone will want him even if its a Championship club, he was immense last season and has been strong in the pre season, can't see why mid table club wouldn't go for him. Sadly he's good as gone
