We've had 7 different goal-scorers in our last 2 matches (Hammond, Lallana, Connolly, De Ridder, Lambert, Chaplow and Forte) I know we had very different teams for the two matches, but I think it still shows that we have got the potential for goals to come from so many different areas. There are some people that are still calling out for us to sign another striker, do we really need one on this showing?
A new striker is something to look at for next season. However, for consolidating a mid-table position in the Championship I think we are adequately equipped....unless Adkins and Cortese have their sights set higher....
It's a very nice stat but it's only two games in. Fact is, our strike force of Lambert, Connolly and Barnard just isn't deep enough. You could count Guly too, but he isn't really a striker. Barnard has injury niggles, and Connolly will never last a full season. It's not so much a matter of quality (although, only two of the seven goals have been forwards...) but it's a matter of depth.
Well Nigel keeps saying he wants to win every game, what does that say about where his sights are set? As Dan says, over a full season we are likely to be weakened by injuries, and two of our strikers are vulnerable at the moment.
we do need an additional striker, not just for cover, but someone proven at this level, and able to play in the prem. A good striker not only scores goals, but provides the space for others to score
I think they might have. Most fans are trying not to think Premier League for a while yet, but Nige and Nicola will have their eyes on the big prize I reckon.
I still think we need another Jen. Connolly - absolute class, but a little fragile. Lambo - quality Barney - will work his socks off, but I'm not sure how he'll do this season (he'll pick up more bookings for being a little more frustrated) De Ridder - he'll be better wide Guly - can do the job well Doble - not ready In my mind we have 3 out and out strikers, one of whom we'll be worried how many games he'll play. To have a strong season, we need another in the quality of Lambert or Connolly.
If we were only to get one more player, as has been suggested by NA, I'd prefer a CB to go along with Fonte over a striker. But if we were to get two more players, I'd definitely ask for that other player to be a striker.
