Say it quietly but could we possibly get up to 6th place with the results going the way they are today so my question is :- 1.can we get that high 2 do we want 6th place My answer to both is definitely but what does everyone else think.
While there is a chance then who knows....Great result for sunderland with old boy DG scoring a rare goal but the best result for me is Leicesters 6 game wining streak.....
Musty am i right in saying it doesnt matter with the fa cup as villa automatically get the europa spot due to them making the final.
I thought the losing finalist in the Capital One cup played in the Europa Cup if the winner was already in the Champions League. However it's only the winner who qualifies in the FA cup which is why if the winner of this cup is already in the Champions League the extra place becomes available i.e. 7th in the Premier League.
Really oh that sounds optimistic then considering what happened to southampton and tue fact that they have villa next who are on fire at present
the way the commentators were talking today, if Arsenal win the cup 7th get a Europa League spot as sugar said
We finished 6th in the old div one and qualified through wining the welsh FA cup and that gave forest who finished 7th place the last European place....
We will not win again this season. I fancy we will gat a point against both City and palace 55 points and that is it. so we will finish 8th
There's a lot of comment that Garry Monk isn't keen on winning entry to Europa League and for next season I still think that is wise (although I loved the adventure and want more). But is our reticence ongoing or jut for the end of this season? If it is ongoing then should we field weak sides in the League Cup and FA Cup to get out as soon as possible?
I hope we play in Europe again but not next season. With the new TV money after next season the Premier League next season must be our No1 priority.
I hope you lot do. I've always liked Swansea. Always gave us a tough game and seems like a class outfit. Monk is a likable manager and you play good footy. Though if you do make Europa hope you don't suffer from the Europa curse that seems to be ravaging certain teams.
As much as I liked Europe we haven't got the squad size, so it's a no for me for this season , but as we are challenging for the European places , lets bulk out the squad so that injuries won't effect us as bad as they have this season and players can be rested . We should learn the lesson from last time, prioritise our EPL place for the season after next and invest wisely unlike the Spuds and Loserpool !
If it does happen, and we qualify for Europe, then we need to spend a bit more in the summer to make sure we can cope. If we don't want to play in the Europe league then just play our weakest side in the qualifiers so we go out......
The fa cup and league cup final losers no longer qualify for Europe, if they ae beaten by a side whose already qualified...The places go to the highest league team not to have qualified,..ie 5th place automatic qualification, 6th pla ce league cup,Chelsea already qualified, the next place will go to villa,if they win cup,if not..It will be 7th in premier league...also premier league granted an extra slot next year through fairplay atm looks like West ham
I doubt we'll qualify but if we do it would be for the early stages - an ideal pre-season for new recruits and some of our younger players. Treat it like that and we'll be OK - fans will realise we don't expect to go far but could (if the wanted) have some European criac to enjoy. Few of us will get to the USA so a trip to Finland, Spain, Azerbaijan or Israel to watch the Mighty would be welcome. Good experience for the likes of Grimes, Hanley etc.
