I don't quite agree with you, to be honest. You can't blame your league position on the form under AVB because you actually got slightly more points per game in the league before he was sacked.

If you win the CL, I'd agree that you deserve a lot of credit and would've done better than City however.

Also, of course you have a stronger squad than us, Newcastle and Arsenal as you pay way more for it. I'd disagree with you on United though, they had pretty much the same squad last season and won the League as well as getting to the CL Final and this season still deserve credit for finishing with 89 points this season. To be so close to the title without two first choice players in Vidic and Fletcher for pretty much the whole season shows their strength in depth.

We didn't have the fixture back-log under AVB that we had under Robbie though did we? So yes we CAN blame our league position on that.

Where to start? The idea that his ability to get into the team 8 years ago holds any bearing on his ability to to get into the team today is clearly absurd, DL :D He's a better player than he was back then having broken back into the England team and staked a permanent place, meanwhile picking up recognition in each of the last two season end awards. When he was at Chelsea he was competing against the best holding midfielder in the World for a place in your team, Mikel isn't even the best holding midfielder on his street.

Fair point, I think Parker would probably get into our side at Mikel's expense. I think Mikel is a better footballer than Parker but Parker is better in that protection role overall.

As for Mata and VDV. No contest in my view. VDV is the classic luxury player. He's very lazy and if not performing well you might as well have 10 men. Case in point the FA cup semi. The amount of times he allowed Luiz or Terry to stroll out of the back 4 into midfield whilst he stood there watching. VDV would get no where near our team. Parker, Modric, Bale and maybe Walker would improve us but no one else. .

Sorry YV but I wouldn't have Parker over Ramires, Mata or Romeu, who for me are vastly superior players to Parker <ok>

Sandro is also much better than Parker as well IMO

If chelsea win the CL final then they would have had a fantastic season. CL winners and FA Cup winners ... EVERY OTHER team would swap positions with the possible exception of Man City (Cos they won the league).

I'm of the opinion that trophies are all that matter...I have no idea where spurs finished in 01, 21, 62, 63, 67, 71, 72, 73, 81, 82, 84, 91, 99, 08, but I know we won trophies that year...I know where we came in 51 and 61 cos we were champions and double winners in those years.

The top 4 target has killed the soul of football in some ways...I loved CL football 2 years ago but only cos the CL has killed the other European Cup competitions and because it meant our better players wanted to stay.

But back to the point. I wish we'd lifted the FA Cup!

Spot on <applause>

The CL has effectively killed off the other cup competitions.

I found it sad that Sky were promoting "The Race for 3rd" as if finishing 3rd is some kind of achievement

Ramires doesn't play the deeper more defensive role like Parker plays for you guys, I'm not sure if Mata's ever played as a holding midfielder but I'm confident enough that Parker would be better than him. Romeu? Behave! :D

Clearly the problem here is that you don't rate Parker full stop. Something that flies in the face of pretty much everyone else' opinion of him.

Oh well, we obviously are in total disagreement about Parker, not that either of us will lose any sleep over that :D

Agree with this, I'd rather have Parker than Mikel. However Romeu has shown he has the potential to far exceed Parker's ability so I'd stick with him ta!

My two cents

Chelsea will have had as good a season as Manchester City if they win the CL (not forgetting a competition City were in with a better squad)

But failure and they will have had a season slightly better than Liverpools (which has been disappointing)

As for the player debate lets see considering all three of us play 4-3-3

In order 1-3 or 1-6

GK: Cech, Szeczsny, Friedel

RB: Sagna, Walker, Bosingwa

CB: Vermaelen, Terry & Luiz (tied for 2nd), Kaboul, Kocsielny & Dawson (Tied for 4th)

LB: Cole, Assou-Ekotto, Gibbs

DM: Song, Parker, Mikel

CM: Modric, Lampard, Rosicky

AM: Mata, Van Der Vaart, Arteta

RW: Ramires, Lennon, Walcott

LW: Bale, Gervinho, Kalou

ST: Van Persie, Drogba, Adebayor

So my lineup would look like

Cech

Sagna - - Luiz or Terry - - Vermaelen - - Cole

Song - - Modric

Ramires - - Mata - - Bale

Van Persie

Anyone else think that woud be a winning PL team

You will if Mikel bangs in a 30 yard screamer tomorrow :D
