(apologies for using that rag of a paper as a link)

This is a topic which seems to crop up every couple of months or so on here.

My stance all along is that I'd prefer to stay at the Bridge and would oppose a move anywhere bar Earls Court.

Should Earls Court become available with subsidised tickets in some areas and retention of tradition and values of the club + a Dortmund style 20k stand I wouldn't be entirely against it.

If it happens the design is vitally important. I'd rather it be more like an Etihad than an Emirates.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council are no friends of Chelsea FC and will oppose a stadium at Earls Court. However, Boris seems likely to over rule them and give the go ahead.... IF RA can get his hands on the land.
Has to be a good thing in the big scheme of things, 60,000 is still small even by Melbourne standards, with the MCG at 98,000 filled most saturdays, and Sydneys' Olympic stadium at around 78,000. This in cities of less than 5 million, but a hell of a lot more available land.
With 60,000 regulars, we can really stick it to the other big clubs. Hope it works out.

I'm with you on this DL! I'd hate leaving the Bridge , but if we have to go, I;ll take Earls Court over anywhere else!

Leaving the Bridge would be tough but after seeing the plans for Battersea, I'm fully behind the decision to move. Our new stadium wouldn't look like the emirates or the Etihad... it would be so much better. A 20k stand which can be prominently standing would really create a fantastic atmosphere. Tickets prices would hopefully go down and all in all I hope it happens

We have the fanbase to fill out 60k but not at current prices and at every game.

The only thing is, the majority of our fanbase comes from South of the river which would probably favour a move to Battersea, but I'm wholly against any decision to move our club South. It has to be in the Chelsea/Fulham perimeter .

How far away would the new stadium be from SB?

I'm going to be plain. Staying at Stamford Bridge is like a dog dying of starvation by not moving from it's dead master's side. All very noble but what a waste of a good dog's life. We'll always have Paris................errrrrr Munich......I mean...... look the past can not be wiped out so long as people remember. LETS MOVE. OK OK OK not to Milton Keynes but let us be realistic, we're not even in Chelsea now! White City, Nine Elms, Wimbledon!

I know, have no stadium, we could be a World Roving club, no home stadium. Chelsea Globe Trotters, we play anywhere everywhere. Every game an Away game but also a Home game.

Seriously don't cling to Stamford Bridge. Once the club nearly died and it was saved and the ground ownership was a major part of that. Nothing can take that away. That though was then and this is now. We are Waltham Green FC wherever we end up.

Earls court is about 10 minute walk from SB.

Doesn't fit with the ethos of the club. We may as well up sticks and camp out on the M25 if we move to Battersea or South of the River

I have warmed more to the idea of moving over the last 2/3 seasons. Before then it would have been a definitive no but in all honesty going to SB isn't what it used to be.

Would be delighted with Lillie Bridge, being a Hammersmith boy!. North of the river and we still get to play at the Bridge.

Want 61500 capacity so we are bigger than Emirates

The same problems still need to be overcome.

I can not see the RA committing to buying the land for 200M and then building a stadium for 400M+, a 600M+ outlay, without the supporters agreeing to letting him have SB to sell to recoup some of the cost and quite frankly I don't think he should. RA has given us significant investment and CPO should have voted for that last time. I don't see that anything has changed.

If Roman could secure the stadium for us it would be a better legacy then all the silverware in the world.

We should name the stadium after him... or his gorgeous Mrs.

Don't be such a snob. Moving a little ways south of the river, is nothing like moving out the m25.

It's not that so much as if you're going to leave the Borough you may as well go anywhere.

Anywhere apart from south of the river anyway...<whistle>

Don't get me wrong, I live South of the River and we probably have more fans there but that isn't Chelsea and has no connection with the club. We may as well have bid for the OS as it has as much relevance to Chelsea as a move South.

Battersea is West. Would have made for an ultra glamorous riverside location too.
