and 9th team is 7 points clear of 10th. I was thinking that there's a good chance that 34 points might be enough to stay up. More importantly, 10th, or around, in January means that we can tempt good players, especially strikers. We will always have to pay a lot more for even a small improvement in striker ability. I think Sagbo and Graham have done well for the team - except in the goalscoring! Pushing the boat out now should make it easier next summer if we are still in the Premier League. Look at the money the teams who are above us have spent - never mind the one's below us!
A nice little run of results in the next few games could insulate us from the relegation dog-fight for the rest of the season.
I think it will be a while before we can build up a big distance but with so many below us it will be hard for too many to all overtake us.
It's going to be one of the most interesting Premier League Seasons ever IMO. Potentially 10 teams in a relegation fight (it's usually 5 at most) and the Title just seems thrown straight into the air for any of the Top 5 to fight for.
This would be a great time to get (say) 3 consecutive BPL wins. It would reduce any relegation tension in the team and the crowd (which often effects the players) and allow them to play with confidence at the business end of the season.
The opposition will be thinking we're winnable too. It comes down to our player's mindset at the end of the day.
I have every confidence in our players to see us safe, but the second half of the season will be very tense and i might not have any finger nails left come May. Ouch just seen Cardiff and Fulham next few games they could be in big trouble.
I think SB has got it in a nut shell, we are top of our league, and that is what we have to concentrate on staying there. This puts a positive slant on the situation with the players.
It can if you look at the league table after 20 games. If you look at it after 30 games it's naturally going to have reduced the number of teams in each battle.
