With just Six days to go in this window I have just been looking at our Transfer History for the last couple of 'windows' and the only players we have 'Bought' for quite a while are Wyke, Grigg and Dobson. Stewart Donald and Co. have been very tight with the Money since wasting £3.6M on Grigg (we weren't to know he would flop at the time so no blame apportioned to the Gamble) So What is happening at the Club to assist the Manager and Players to Push for promotion and Delight the Fans....... My Questions are these:- Where is the £10M Loan from FPP is it available? if not what has it been used for? Why haven't we Bought a Goal Scoring Striker when it is Obvious we Need one desperately? Why is Donald holding on to the Money and using Loan/Free deals to push for promotion? Is Stewart Donald hoarding it so he has a bigger profit when he sells (The loan was made too Madrox with the club holding liability? Are we Financially so insecure that we cannot Gazzump or outbid rivals for Players we reportedly have been trying for? Why when we cannot 'Buy' a player we want do we allow Players we have leave 'FREE' or for a pittance when someone else wants them? (I know most were not good enough or caused divisions in the squad but surely we could re-coup some money for them) Just wondering what your thoughts are on when, if or why? If we are serious about Promotion then Give the Manager the funds to bring in players he needs. I know it is not a guarantee of success but you need to speculate to accumulate as the saying goes. I don't want to break the bank but use some of the Rainy Day money to put a smile on the Fans Faces!!!
bringing Boyce here would be a good start, toney would be my choice though. mcgeady could go to Peterborough plus cash, there would be a risk him getting them promoted at our expense but it could happen the other way. this stop start is doing us, wyke is not scoring enough either.
The money is in my opinion, needed for day to day running costs, that's why Donald has to sell to someone that can afford to run our club without borrowing.
Mad bob reckons that the 10 million loan is still there waiting to be paid back. Not sure what sort of loan, that a loan to pay back the same loan is.
Donald claimed that he had targets identified and scouts in place, this was only a month or so back. Will most likely claim he isn't spending now because he is selling the club.
No point in spending for spendings sake. If right players aren't available at affordable price so be it imo
If the right players available at the right price then I think we would go for them.. Hopefully the club will never again be badgered by supporters to buy the wrong players that are overpriced.
Maybe another loan incoming. James garner. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...underland-target-James-Garner-leave-loan.html Is he a maverick ?
Just bring in Doherty ffs. Creative midfield who gets about the pitch, scores and assists. Honestly our recruitment are absolutely ****ing ****e.
What is the average spend going back say 5 yrs for getting out this league. I would imagine it is not much.
Last season according to transfermarket the total spend for league 1 was approx 7.9 million. 5.6m in 17/18 5.3 in 16/17 7.8 in 15/16 6.8 in 14/15
To be fair this lad is looking at potentially getting a game for Man United now they're a bit thin in midfield, I've never heard of him but I wouldn't write him off.
I actually have this as a spreadsheet somewhere I don't know if I can find it right now, but I think it was something like only 25% of the promoted clubs had done so without spending money, and some teams had spent millions before promotion, even if not in the season they went up. Sheff Utd being a good example, and I think Peterboro are one of the only clubs to have spent pretty much any money and not gone up in that time. Fleetwood too, but very different circumstances as they'd just come up.
