apart from being untrue, spot on

NEWCASTLE United today praised the behaviour of supporters in the ground at yesterday’s derby clash with Sunderland.

It said reports of significant damage to the seats and concourse of the away area at St James’s Park are inaccurate.

Only one seat was damaged in the stadium and a small number of ceiling tiles broken in the toilets.

The club’s head of security Steve Storey said: “With the exception of a very small number of incidents, fans from both clubs throughout the stadium were very well behaved before, during and after the game.

“The level of damage in the away area was low even for a regular fixture, let alone a highly charged derby match.

“I commend the behaviour of all supporters at the game yesterday, including the vast majority of the 2,650 Sunderland fans, who showed respect for the away area of the ground.”

No one can condone these events if true. However, remember when your teams fans:-

    1) Invaded the pitch with the intention of stopping the game at the end of the most important game in recent memory between our two clubs in 1990 (when you were getting beat 2-0 Gates/Gabbiadini et al)...
    2) Smashed up the big market when you lost the cup final.
    3) Smashed the windows of the bus I was being transported on after we beat you 2-1, with Shearer missing the penalty.

Don't take the moral high ground regarding behaviour of fans. Both teams have moronic elements

I know some our supporters aren't angels but those two examples have been taken from football's dark ages.

These stuff don't happen anymore nowadays.

Yep all Sunderland fans causing trouble

Nine fans held after derby match

Northumbria Police arrested nine fans at derby match between Newcastle and Sunderland
A further group were arrested after the game when a large number of Newcastle United fans gathered outside the city's Central Station with the intention of attacking Sunderland fans and officers, Northumbria Police said. There was a large police presence in the city and in and around the stadium in an attempt to stop a repeat of trouble seen at previous matches between the two teams.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "Disappointingly, nine arrests were made over the course of the day for offences of assault, disorder and drunkenness, including one for going on the playing area.
."There were additional arrests made outside the Central Station area after a very large group of Newcastle fans gathered intent on causing trouble post-match."Chief Superintendent Neil Mackay said: "The overwhelming majority of fans were well-behaved and wanted nothing more than to attend the match free from the fear of violence, disorder or other crime.

"Despite this and our warnings about the penalties that awaited trouble-makers, there were still some willing to risk their freedom by trying to spoil the day for others."

Mr Mackay continued: "I wish to apologise for the inconvenience caused to decent members of the public when dealing with the idiots gathered outside Central Station intent on attacking Sunderland fans and police officers."A sell-out crowd of 52,084 watched as the match finished in a one-one draw.

Stupid kids do this sort of thing.
As kids have no sense of what is right and wrong and taking responsibility for what they say and do. (Pretty much like you!)

Now I wonder what this sad sack 47 year olds excuse could be. <ok>
