@John__Percy: #lcfc consider £5m bid for Sunderland striker Connor Wickham #safc via @Telegraph http://t.co/BaDJhcs8Rd
Wickam in wood out would be squad strengthening though imo. Wood doesn´t really have to much of a chance (mins on the pitch) as things stand any way so...
£6 million according to this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Pearson-considers-6m-Sunderland-striker.html ... and I'd prefer that to meeting average boy Frazier Campbell's inflated wage demands ...
Always done well against us - but if we cant meet Campbells wage demands, are we likely to meet Wickhams?
I would've thought It's not going to be that we can't, it's that we won't. If the club feel the wage demand for an individual is to high they'll just move on.
Could be available lads, depends on how much he wants in his new contract. Did well towards the end of the season but that was his first run of form in three years so remains to be seen if he can continue it. Bags of potential but a bit of a big head and a big boozer. His form has put him in a strong position but could price us out of meeting his demands. It will probably cost you around 7-9 million 40k+ pw in wages and should expect competition. Could become the best English striker in the country, just depends weather he's got the head for it, he certainly has the raw ability.
He is exactly the sort we need though. Big, strong, proven and with a great goalscoring knack. He's also young with time to improve.
Cheers funk - 40k may be a bit rich for a basic wage - rumours that we have a 30k cap for basic wage. That has not been confirmed by the club. If he does come, hope his tipple is vodka and he likes a bit of charlie, cos Jamie Vardy's having a party. (Just as an aside, JV stood in front of me at the Kasabian gig at Vic Park).
You'll struggle then, he's already on 25k pw and by all accounts he likes to spend, which brings me onto vodka being his tipple, oh no mate, oh no. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...500-bottle-champagne-Ocean-Club-Marbella.html
Am i the only one that isn't impressed with this? Shone at a poor Sheff Wed side, and came back to Sunderland when they were poor as well. Also, if they sell to us, a possible relegation competitor, then they don't see him as enough of a threat or good enough to get us enough points to out-do Sunderland.
I'm a bit on the fence regarding our contract offer, i'd be offering him about 20-25k a week only some idiot offered him that as an 18 year old when we signed him, that solitary ten game run of form will have him demanding much more than he's worth.
Im 50/50 on this one. The boy has bags of potential without question and is still young. If Pearson thinks he is right for us though then thats good enough for me. Whether we would meet his wage demands or even if the Mackems will sell him remains to be seen.
Again the price is going to be the sticking point here. Don't see why we'd pay excessive amounts for potential - we have plenty of that in the squad. We need proven quality. As FF said, I'd rather get Campbell for £0.8m if we're just going for potential.
Good point, he'd be a fantastic signing if we were in the Championship. We need to be signing people who will be making an instant impact. That's why I'm pleased with Albrighton and Upson- we've seen them deliver in the Premier League in recent years.
Some of the time it works in a financial way, pay £xm now, get £xxm in the future, although his value has decreased, so that technically doesn't apply here Think that Sunderland were hoping that he'd show a bit more improvement over the 4 year contract to at least get their £8m back.
