The only reason i want it is being in Europe, the rest of europe has 5 subs and over the course of the season us only having 3 in the league could have give those European teams an advantage in my book. Stupid we tried to be different, just like how we apply VAR over here, its fine in europe mostly, here its a ****ing joke every week.
It'll be more stop start and ****housery and it was already ruining the sport, but the entertainment value isn't relevant these days...
Yeh it could be used that way, & i guess that means more added minutes. If mr Klopp is happy im happy
I'm OK with five subs...but I think they should make it so two have to be U21S homegrown players. So if you want more than 3 you have to give domestic youth a chance.
This. Now you can change half of the outfield team during a game Might as well have an option to change the manager and coaching staff at HT if the game ain't going your way either
Find it ruins the flow of matches replacing half of the outfield players. Gives the last 20-30 minutes a friendly feel.
Get with the times man, footballs evolved, us teams in Europe need 5 subs. Im tryna think of pros and cons and ive got so far Pros Less strain on players = less injuries Tactical changes = could lead to more exciting games & results. 5 subs puts on a level playing field as the rest of Europe. Cons Time wasting negative subs by the smaller relegation threatened teams like Everton. Tuchel possibly fielding 9 actual defenders in a game
Too much chopping and changing. Like Libby said, it'll end up feeling like a friendly game where you change half the team at HT Id be up for 3 tactical subs and 2 subs allowed due to injury
I think it will depend on the manager and his style tbh. With klopp im quite excited for the 5 subs introduced as i can take a good guess he will use the majority of them to bleed new yoof rather than stifle games. I would expect Arteta and pep to also go more that way too. Man like fat frank and tuchel gonna go 1 up and put 5 defensive players on so i see your worry
I like the idea of being able to use players like ESR, Saka, Odegaard and Martinelli in the same game But yeah, it worries me some managers will use it to try and stifle the last 10 mins of a game Could always bring in a rule I suppose that you can't make all 5 subs in the last 10 mins
This leads me back to something i heard on the radio the other day that made a lot of sense to me. Old orem ref Mike dean on a podacst it was. He said an improvement and a help to refs woukd be to Take the control of the clock off the them completely. As in have a stop watch system displayed in the stadium for all to see tgat stops whenever the ball is out of play or the game has stopped for whatever reasons. This not only kills what mike dean claimed was sometimes a big distraction for the refs especially in the latter parts of the game but also the constant snide time wasting ive notcied creeping in more and more this season, you know what im on about, taking 30 seconds per throw-in, 45 secs per freekick and longer on goal kicks from tge 1st minute of the game for some teams. Just seems a good idea to me, but also sounds a bit nfl yanky too?
Mentioned this on here years ago Got poo pooed as folk were saying games would take too long to complete I think the actual amount of football played in a 90 min game is something crazy like 55 mins
