May be it's down to my age but I have always enjoyed listening to football commentaries on the radio, it's great to watch but some of the babble and cross talk on the tv I lose interest, the radio I find interesting, always informative and I can be doing other activities whilst the radio is on. I then think which station should I listen to, I have 3 normal choices, Radio Bristol, 5 live or Talksport, they all have their obvious advantages, Bristol City it's got to be local radio, general football I listen to and enjoy 5 live but they are up their own backsides half the time, I do listen to Talksport during the day but some of their presenters are garbage, I do enjoy the 2 Mikes and H&J though, I also listened to the world cup on Talksport and found it very good. So my question is, if you listen to football on the radio where do you tune in to, My main stay is 5 live, closely followed by Talksport and obviously Radio Bristol for local stuff but my god they can be so boring.
Listen to talk sport most times from about 8am till 6pm..Love Alan Brazil & co, Jim White's a bit crap (full of ****) although Like Bob Mills and most other guests..H&J bit boring, but Like Goffie & Adrian Durham for the arguments and for playing devils advocate!...Used to like 5 live but not done so for years.....Radio Bristols a must for the City commentary!!
On match days, I listen to the local radio for commentary of the game (if I am not at the game) then continue to listen to the local radio following the game for the phone in show but I only listen to that until after DC has done his post match interview. I get fed up of some right ******s who phone in. Yeovil lad who says "obviously" as many times as he says "umm" and a the odd Gashead and red who really shouldnt be on a radio or even at the game as should be locked up in some looney house! After DC's interview, I listen to the phone in shows on either 5live or talksport. Usually 1 of those station has a live game on for a late kick off, so who ever has the phone in, I listen to that station and I stick with that station until the show finishes. On non match days, I do really like listening to Andy Goldstein in the evenings on talksport on the sports bar. The arguments are so funny. I know some people don't like him or like the show but I find it hilarious. Last night I thought there were going to be a fight! Was so funny. You should listen to it! The 'listen again' feature on talksports site has the 3 hour show in 30 minutes sections. The topic starts 13 mins 25 secs into the program and its about young managers in their first managers job and the pressure of it. Arguments start and it goes way down hill from there. You get people calling in to argue further and I was laughing the whole time. Here is the link... just press play and scroll along to 13 mins 25secs and enjoy until the clip ends https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1532552400/ Then here is the next clip to continue from the last clip where the arguments carry on for the whole clip... https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1532552400/1532554200/ Are you not entertained
I do enjoy the sports bar especially when him and Cundy are having a go, Chelsea and Man U fan, how bad is that.
Indeed. But although there are regular arguments with different co-hosts, I have never heard it as bad as last night
Up here in Swindle I can just about get Somerset Sound - which alternates between Rovers and Yeovil. You can imagine how frustrating that is........
I know what you mean about babble there is babble and boring babble and very boring babble … I know a race like the tour is profoundly at times boring on some stages … but today the 2 itv commentators were well up their rear ends with babble, boring babble, ….. not entirely their fault the race was dead … tomorrow it could be a sizzler ….. tourmalet, been up and down it 2 or 3 times Aspin spent almost a week on it practicing for the alps … [ altitude/ walking! ] then a 2 day rush across to embrum/ gap /briancon for 2 weeks of walks ….. [ 7 of them ] wx was much like now over 25c - but odd days of 30c+ [ one day 36c climbed from base of 800m up 1700m to a peak at 2500m. 27 kilometers, took 9hours + ] it was my celebration to have reached 65!!!!!!! now I am happy if I make 400m and 14k in less than 2 hours!!!
I get your point jgf2 because who on earth would want to listen to ongoing babble? No outlets like that over here unless I subscribe to Sirius Radio where I can get all the babble I want - but choose not to participate. Enjoy the upcoming season.
On match days I listen to Radio Bristol/Somerset both before and after the match - it's just under 2 hours each way so plenty of time to listen!
