......gasass 20pence enjoyed saying that, christ it hurts....... We've got severe problems and no answers....
Didn't quite understand your thread wize but I presume your talking about our latest loss up north. I'm afraid I have now lost confidence in our Derek and am starting to wonder what we do next but I don't think we need to act hastily and regret the consequences. Is there a manager out there who has the ability to control and motivate this sad bunch of slackers and if there is then let's get him in now. I have just listened to the game on BBC Bristol and wonder why I bother and I'm positive that there are a lot of others who must be pulling their hair out wondering what to say.
In which case, you will have heard that we actually had some attacking threat 2nd half and should really have scored 1-1 would have been decent, miss the chances and its all doom and gloom.. If we have no more points after the next 3 games, I will begin to worry then...
Sorry inver,Geoff Twentyman is an ex-"gashead player and radio bristol presenter, and we call him 20pence ,WHEN I GET A BIT OF A COB ON i CALL HIM GASASS 20PENCE and I'M HAVING TO LISTEN TO HIM..
It makes you wonder whether the club themselves are to blame in some way ? I dont know how but we've has a succession of managers that have spend loads of money, but the same old problems exist week in week out. The problem therefore lies deeper than new players and new management every year ? I'm still behind Del 100%, but he now needs to show that we can turn this around, and sooner rather than later.
Here is a stat off the radio from a fan,5 points from the last 10 games, average half a point a game..
We need to start bucking the trend and quickly before all self belief evaporates All of the teams at the bottom at least look like they have some fight in them, but I'm not sure we do. When Peterborough were adrift just a few short games ago, they pulled themselves together and ground out results. We need to prove we can do the same.
Some blame, as Angelic mentions, has to go to the Board. They have a track record of rotten decisions when it comes to picking managers. DM was always a big gamble - people at the time seemed to think he was Sextone's idea. What a great leaving present from that windbag who knows **** all about football. Well if so the gamble has failed and we have wasted yet more millions. When will the club learn that the MOST important position is the manager. You should pick someone with presence, experience and a proven track record. Otherwise you're throwing money into a black hole. I can't see anyone available who fits the bill right now so the club are stuck with their lousy gamble which has backfired big time and looks like sending us down to L1.
We have not improved since GJ left IMO, some of you feel that the players we have this season are far better than last......if that's the case, the problem MUST lie with Del. I blame the board and those whom are easily influenced. Since Copout, we went the cheap option of Keef. For me that was not progress, only a sidewards step, it turned out a downward step. Once Keef was blown out, I thought maybe the board had learnt the lesson. But no, the board went for an untested manager at this level from a poor Scottish league. I didn't buy it then and I don't now. I know some were drawn into their thinking but IMO it was a massive gamble, which by the look of it, is backfiring. I think it depends what this club is looking to achive....more often than not, you get what you pay for. Two years ago, my choice was Roberto Di Matteo. I remenber many saying "what has he done blah blah"....the rest is history. One year ago, my choice was Zola, again I got slaughtered. And even though I'd not mentioned anything about it this season, some brought it up saying, he hadn't done much since managing Watford. Well in the time he's had, he's doing much better than our current dross. OK, maybe neither, would not have given us a second look, but it needed to be someone with either championship or premiership experience and to make it exciting, a manager with the ability to totally change the way City go about things. The art of PROGRESS. I now think the board needs to grow some balls. No knee jerk reaction, but to be ready to change things quickly if required. The old way, the cheap way & the easy way will end in disaster.
I said this from day one a big gamble, but hey I was hoping he could Proove me wrong.the sad thing is he has spent a fortune, but the good thing is the next manager will have a squad of players that can pull us away from the drop.
Spot on. Every season since has been a bit worse, but having said that Johnson had to go at the time. There are just no easy answers to this club but I cant see the board taking any action for the time being, and that's the right decision at the moment. I'm hoping we'll come good when Cunningham returns.
Angelic I will have a bit of what your on,one player will not change it,even if we had messi would it change,he would probably not be Dels favourite and would sit on the bench.
A bit naughty, I think most managers would do ok in charge of Udinese reserves.... As for DM being the "cheap option", I think far from it. He is rebuilding this club from the ground up and as I stated last week, as long as he continues with the weak links from the remnants of the failed Johnnson era in his team, we will remain vunerable. We also need a ball playing leader in midfield, of this there is no doubt however with this and the more established pattern of play that this would bring, we will be fine. I am far from happy about the current run but it is a total rebuild and this doesn't happen over night. DM must be given the chance to implement his long term plan and I am sure he will turn it around. The only reason I will fall out with him is if he continues to deny our youngsters a chance to show us what they have got..
Stats say we did very well 47% - 53% Possession 7 10 On target 3 3 Corners 3 2 Fouls http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20107347
