If City fail to win the title, and Chelsea also fail, it will be 5 different champions in 5 years. We're truly in a different era now. Before recently there's only been 2 or 3 teams going after title year after year, and although the teams in that group of 3 change, it's been a common pattern. That said, I'm sure City will win, but I think we're in far more turbulent times.
Is that a round about way of telling us you've only just realised the last four titles have been won by four different teams?
Not just that, but Leicester and United are off the pace this year, and I don't personally think Chelsea are going to pose as much a threat as the other two main London teams.
Man City look the same as they did last season at the same stage too. Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs then...
Thats an interesting point. Id not noted that this could be the case. Utd City Chelsea Leicester Spurs Amazing really.
It's a good thing though because it means the league's more competitive. In my little fantasy world - Gerrard's leaving LA coming back as a player/coach - Klopp plays him for 30 mins v Middlesbrough at home and we win the league by 2 points - we get our title - he gets his longed for PL medal.
Not to jinx it, I can sense for the first time in years this is going to be our year. For all City's famed reliability and Spurs attacking play under Pochetino, they still lose points unexpectedly and when they are not playing well. We have no distractions apart from domestic cups and that suits our dynamic physical game.
The league nowadays is all about momentum. Leicester had that last season but there was also a sense that everyone thought they would fade away and then it was too late for any other team to change this because people had written them off for the majority of the season. Back in the day we had a sense of inevitability of the top four breaking away with Chelsea and Man u competing.
he'd have to play 10 games. like... ok he could play once and we make him a medal but officially this would be denied by any and all mancs as not a win.
I dunno about that. Momentum yes but leicester had focus and beleif. in a normal year 90% of clubs winning it have this and its utd or cheslea or lately city. lets not mistake a fluke with a new era either. I do not think that it now follows that a club not in europe or who dumps the europa will be the ones to win this league. The best teams will still win it... whether thats spurs for example who've built for 5 years to this or its city or cheslea who knows.
I wouldn't say they had belief until after they beat Man City away. Before that everyone was waiting for the bubble to burst and thankfully it didn't.
Thought it was 10% That would be 4 games. Nothing about minutes either so those four games could be four seconds of playing time Besides, the rule was scraped when 25 man squad were introduced
my research into this says that in 2012/13 the threshold was lowered from 10 to 5 and thats when squads came in. 5 is a very low threshold IMO. there is this bit on leicester http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/revealed-leicester-players-who-premier-7890961 so.... it must still be 5...
That article hasn't even mentioned Richie de Laet who got a PL medal and a medal for getting promoted with Boro.
As I said above [ I'd already researched it] - doesn't anybody read the threads anymore C.13. The League Champions shall further receive 40 commemorative medals to be presented by the Club to its Manager and to such of its Players and Officials as it thinks fit provided that any Player who has entered the field of play in a minimum of five of its League Matches that Season shall receive from the Club a commemorative medal. Additional medals may only be presented with the consent of the Board which shall only be given if the total number of Players who have entered the field of play that Season in a minimum of five of the Club’s League Matches exceeds 39.
there is a special dispension application as well for players like jack rodwell who apparently won a league with city having playing 104 mins. 40 medals seems huge to me. for example LFC (if we ever win it) klopp, 4/5 coaches, doctor, couple of physios, 25 players. seems they must welly out medals to staff if dispensations are required.
