Away at Everton. Not a good draw as we have a woeful record there and whether we got Everton home or away it would be tricky game. Could nick a draw and bring them back to the cottage though, who knows. Thoughts?

Beat me to it, and my thoughts exactly. I reckon we have it in us to beat them, but they'll by no means be a walkover. I think Jagielka will be injured still by then, so that will help us.

It will be a good game! If we play as at home we have every chance to make it...

Couldn't have been a worse draw in my opinion, if we were drawn against a big team they may well have rested players but teams like Everton are like ourselves, nothing to play for in the league which makes the cups all the more important, so make no mistake they will be up for it especially at home where we have an awful record.

    Sigh.

Obviously I would have preferred Stevenage or Swindon at home but the bottom line is you can't win the FA cup without beating some better/equally good clubs along the way. As others have said our record against Everton in the cup is excellent and they have injury worries and we don't (touch wood).

Jol has said he is up for the cup and I am too. Realistically I agree with the most likely way to progress being a draw at Goodison then a replay at the Cottage but I would have no problem qualifying by that route and the more games we have to put the new system into practise the more likely it is to be successful.

    Que sera sera....

I'd have settled for Everton at home, but away this isn't a great draw. Then again, whoever said that if you harbour ambitions to win the thing, you have to expect to play the better sides at some stage has got a point.

I'm not convinced by the argument that our cup form against Everton is good - how many players or even coaching staff from either club were involved when we last met in 2004? The league form is a stronger argument. Even then, just because we tend to lose away at Everton doesn't mean that it's a forgone conclusion. It's there to be won, so we need to pick a strong side and give it our best shot.

Jol must see the FA Cup now as a serious possiblity to win the thing now with City out and one of Utd and Liverpool soon to follow. A few tasty all Premier League ties will also knock out some quality teams.

As has been said, if we're going to try and win the cup we're going to have to play tougher matches than Everton away. Bring it on!
