Unless its Chelsea. If Arsenal, Spurs, or Newcastle finifh 4th, with Chelsea 5th, they will have to sweat on the CL final a couple of weeks later to know if they are in the CL next year... I do not want us to be in that position. A win against Stoke is absolutely vital. We may be really sick about the Wigan performance at home come the end of May.
I think 2 wins out of our last 3 games should be enough for 3rd. West Brom and Stoke away are going to be difficult though.
Sure we have to do our part, but it will not come to it. Chelsea have always done well against Barca, but will not be a match either Real or Bayern who have a more varied game.
I hope not - but the fact we played so poorly in both games and now have Arteta and Walcott out for the season puts us under big pressure. Newcastle and Spurs will now also know 4th is not good enough. Diaby and Ramsey need to step up and really pay back Wenger for all the faith he has shown in them. Big performances needed from both of them.
I was at that game against Wigan. Our defending was so so slack. It happens time and time again at pivotal moments of our the season. Our defence/goalie slips up. Even when it was 2-1 when we played Wigan, there was no sense of urgency to score. Song's through balls just kept on going no where, Ramsey.. well you know. Walcott and Sagna just weren't on the same wave length. I didn't go to the Chelsea game but thank God I didn't. It was a boring game but to be fair, we looked more likely to score in that game but we were just unfortunate in front of goal. I can`t say we played that poorly against Chelsea. We could've nicked one goal there. At the end of the day, 3rd place is in our hands. If we lose it, we have no one to blame but ourselves. I can't see Chelsea winning the CL, especially with the players they are missing but hey, most people didn't expect Chelsea to get through tonight.
That's just it. The number of times we've messed up only to be handed a lifeline because teams around us don't get the job done either. This team has it's destiny in it's own hands yet it chooses to place it in the hands of others. These final three games have to produce 9 points simply because the others will be going for it as well. We are currently in 3rd. Hence the 3rd best team in the land. We should really go to there and show it. No more excuses.....
