It looks like this is going to happen.

The main concern seems to be having more third world countries making the finals but then the reports go on to mention it will make even more money for FIFA! Surprise Surprise!!

What they don't consider are the logistics. More fans mean less countries could host the finals unless they can joint host.

I've seen that FIFA is a dirty word on here but what about a bigger world cup final? Any fans of the idea?

Fifa are basically redundant for me until at least after the Qatar world cup.

I hope they are dismantled and replaced with something more respectable, but where there is money, there will be corruption.

Club football is the way forward, I doubt winning a World Cup now would feel half as good as it did back in '66.

Yes. Hopefully England will tell FIFA to **** off once and for all. Be done with them. Start afresh.

    **** FIFA.

I was hoping that EUFA might already have said that by now.

I don't see it happening now.

**** FIFA sums it up for me!

"FIFA Council votes unanimously to increase numbers"

    More money for them, simple.

    Haven't given a **** since about 2004.

International football is about as interesting as women's hygiene.

When the bloke took over from Blatter I wrongly thought this might be an opportunity for that corrupt organisation to put things right under a new younger leader.
How wrong was I as this proposal just smells of more profit for an organisation that has too much money already.
We'll all be rivited to the tele watching the Faroe Islands hammer Gibralta. Thank Christ this isn't happening until 2026 or something by which time I'll be too old to care.

ffs bring Blatter back. This Italian c*nt is obviously like the rest of his corrupt f*cking countrymen.
Burka Fascino v San Marino is gonna be a TV winner.

PS, might give Scotland a chance now.

Couldn't give a ****. I still enjoy the big tournaments, but that's purely to appreciate watching all the best players. The passion isn't there, though.

Growing up, we used to love international football, we were all proud of our national team. Italia 90 blew me away and I would have loved to have won that, the country would have celebrated as one.

Now we all want our players pulled out of the tournaments as we don't want them injured for our club games.

It is my opinion that they are doing this to try and get China and India into the finals to tap into their vast potential TV audiences.

Always seemed to me that English & European teams have been only to happy to exploit these third world countries you speak of to date so why not let them play in the World Cup in return.

These countries you speak of have always been part of the world cup but just have not been good enough to wualify for the finals.

Beat me to it. What this means is more games that no one will give a toss about like Chad playing Borneo.

Overkill will kill the game. Look how so many on here have already said they don't care about the World Cup or the national team anymore.

Having said that, both those would probably beat England anyway! :(

My question is how do we get it down to a knockout? It's gotta go into 32 or 16. My head says it will go into 32 which makes the group stage an almost non event similar to the 24 into 16 at the euros thus year.

Also will it be 4 groups of 12 or 8 groups of 6. Basically the world cup will go on for 6 to 7 weeks and people won't give a **** by the final.

What I heard was that teams will play the same potential number of games, 7, as they do now.

I imagine it will be 12 groups of 4. The top 2 go through, with the 8 best 3rd place finishers.
