First of all i would like to thanks all those who have taken time to send me their all time eleven teams, i appreciate all of them.

So far there is a very mixed bag of names ranging from current squad members to players who were around in the fourties and fiftes, it shows just how hard it is to pick the ultimate team given different peoples opinions, but there are some positions that seem nailed on for certain players.

Tony Norman has been picked in practically every side so far as the greatest goalkeeper City have had.

In defence there are a fair few names mentioned, but cropping up regularly are Richard Jobson, Michael Turner, Andy Dawson and Peter Daniel and mentions too for Vigo Jensen and Pete Skipper.

Midfield as you can imagine is loaded at the moment but Raich Carter and Brian Marwood are certainly geting the votes as well as Deano and Gary Parker

Up front it appears to be a 4 way battle between Waggy, Chillo Billy Whitehurst and Keith Edwards

As for managers which i forgot to mention on the original thread, Peter Taylor, Warren Joyce and Phil Brown could be in the running (unless of course you know better)

There is still time to get your selections in if you dont agree with the above names, deadline for the teams in 5.00pm Sunday.

Please EMAIL me at: [email protected]

Team will feature in the April edition of 442 magazine.

I'll agree with Richard Jobson and Garry Parker. Possibly Whitehurst that said although a loan I'd say Mannone is a better keeper than Norman or Hesford. I also think skill wise a lot of the current crop are better players than many of he so called legends.

Best Manager, I'm crossing the White line, and going to say Nigel Pearson, he will become the best manager we've ever had FACT. A good manager creates a future, Brown created a short term happening that nearly put the club out of existence (another FACT)

Get behind Pearson and the current management team, the futures bright, the futures glowing amber!

Ashbee has got to be in there. Maybe Elliott and Barmby? Whittle? Myhill even?

Myhill can't compete with Mannone as our best keeper over the past year. So for him to be the best keeper over the past 107 years is a long shot ;)

ashbees odd misplaced pass will knock him out of the running, far more important to people then captaining a team through all 4 divisions....that sort of thing happens all the time...

I think Mannone is a bit over-rated at the moment. He has kept a few clean sheets, good shot stopping and has excellent distribution but has made a few errors, some of which have been punished, others which haven't. I don't think he is any better than Guzan or Myhill. I'm not saying he's bad and I would like to keep him, just think people are over-rating him a bit.

for me it all depends on what you base it on...what they achieved at city- in which case, myhill, dawson , ashbee and elliot should all be certainties...
or do you base it on, pure footballing ability, in which case jay jay okocha and barmby are certainties..as dont forget barmby at his peak played for england 20 odd times and played for some of englands biggest clubs...
thats why i dont like doing this kind of thing personally...too many variables

If you were going on ability then Bullard would be in there but I can't see many picking him. Geovanni would be in there also ability-wise and also for providing one of the greatest city moments/memories with his goal at arsenal

But then you'd have to have Ryan France in the City all-tme XI (position - whichever we have as the weakest in the 11) :emoticon-0108-speec:

Edit to add: I don't feel I've seen enough of them to comment. All my players would come from the last 20 years.

i only didnt menton france, as he wasnt quite as regular as the others, and probably didnt play as big a part, but its worth a mention all the same, when you look back in the history books of hull city in 100 years time, there wont be many to match his achievement either, despite ability wise being a million miles away from a best 11..
another variable i dont like is the debate about which era was the hardest to play in...while the older generation had harder footballs, muddier pitches, and defenders could tackle....players also drank and smoked, and must have been much easier to outpace?

IMHO Pearson was a better all round player than Chillo......but I dare say some will disagree.

Fine mate. Choice is yours. Take it Hughes is Emlyn and not Brian(who I rated).

    Some tough choices..

lots of times you really have to put players together as they're good partnerships..

    Pete Skipper & Stan McEwan..
    Michael Turner & Wayne Brown
    Waggy & Chillo
    Payton & Edwards
    Burgess & Allsopp

My dad says Billy Bly in goal but Norman for me..
Then how do you leave out players like Geovanni, Barmby, Elliott, Roberts out of midfield?
Do you choose Ken Houghton or Ian Butler on the left?
Since Deano scored THAT goal he has to be in the team..

my bench would be: Bly, Skipper, Dyer, Geovanni, Elliott, Barmby, Edwards
