4 years since we beat Sunderland in the cup quarter finals at a packed KC - I cancelled my holiday to Cyprus which clashed with the final as I was so confident we would win the Semi final , cost me 450 quid but worth every penny, remember the joy and good feeling that day , seems more like 24 years ago
To quote myself on another thread this morning... If you fancy feeling ****e, this is what we were doing 4 years ago today...
Yep, we did the treble. 1-0, 3-0 and 1-3. I remember Sunderland getting 2 players sent off in the 1-0 and we only scoring due to an own goal. Try and guess who one of the red cards was for...
One of my best memories of the day was walking to town after the game and the cheer that went up when we drawn against the mighty SUFC.
Remember it well, walked into a bar in Amsterdam to watch it, a bloke was in there watching Ajax so we decided to leave. the barman said no and switched the tv over to City
A great day with my 2 Nieces . Youngest one still goes to all home games and has only missed about 3 in 5 years Eldest now working so misses most games.
I parked on Camden Street for that game and had my rear windscreen put in by a local rascal. Happy times. Great memories.
To quote myself in same thread - Us oldies will feel even ****er recalling that on 9th March 47 years ago we were beating Sheff Utd 2-1 at Bramall Lane in front of over 40,000. Three days earlier we had been beaten in the Cup in front of over 40,000. Fair to say we won't see City playing in front of over 80,000 in the space of 3 days whilst a level 2 team any time soon unless we draw Man Utd away in the Cup and have a league game 3 days later.
Was strutting across to the anlaby road flyover after the game. Some lads passing in a car, the driver leaning out the window shouting 'we've got Sheff United, we've got Sheff United!' Realisation that we're as good as in the FA cup final. Brilliant day.
