Thats a big long contract for a 31 year old with a chequered fitness record? However, as i have said, these players come with a hatful of experience and good grounding. Brown has played in EPL Championship winning sides, Champions League games and internationals. He offers a clam head in a crucial area of the field of play and one which we struggled to cope with for the latter parts of the season just gone. Him AND O'Shea will do nicely thank you.
Do you have a reliable source? Daily fail is not the most reliable in the world (ie its ****) hope we aren't offering this long a deal. 2 years tops imo
think 4 years is too long too 2 with an option from there would to me have had enough time for us to see if he's doing it and enough of an incentive to keep him motivated too but if he's fit should only be an asset to us
Trouble is what we think is a good deal, 2 years, is not whats important, its what we need to do to get him. have a wage cap so cant go down the pay you more route and offering more wont work because Man U have accepted our offer, all we have is contract. Bruce sees Browns experience and IMO input with younger players to be important and I think I agree. I look at that extra 2 years as pay off for Brown for passing on that experience and TBH I'm pleased we are showing that will to get our man, whoever that man is.
Brown, O'Shea,,,,people say we want a new L/B, some want a new R/B. Reckon Bruce is gonna have to try a few teamsheets in pre-season before we have any idea what the line-up is gonna be for the scousers. Cos i ain't got a clue.
See at the moment that team is highly likely, and i bet you were gutted naming that team, knowing what a fan of Colback you are.
Four years too many for me. O'Shea yes, O'Shea AND Brown, probably, Brown alone no. Don't rate him as highly as many on here.
Same here mate O'Shea yes but, Brown is an accident waiting to happen and as for all this bringing the youngsters on rubbish why do we have coaches I thought that was their job? The Manc fans can't wait to see the back of Brown for a very good reason he is pants, yes he has won just about everything in club football but most of it sat on the bench. Not for me would prefer an out and out LB just seems Bruce knows we all want a LB so will not buy one yet again so, that'll be 3 seasons without a recognised LB and another season of chopping and changing our back four.
4 years NO. FFS hes been injured most of the last 2 seasons. Pleased its the mail reporting this as its probably b*llocks. What c4mackem said seems about right to me.
I think these Man U players would be good additions - bags of experience and being used to a winning mentality. With the departure of Zenden their experience would be a huge bonus !
4 years is a long contract but Brucie seems to be in the habit of giving 4 year deals. I think we could be looking at our next captian in Brown as well.
Brown has had 7 injuries in his career, but that was on a site that you have to pay to see the rest, and i am not paying just to find out what they were lol http://www.imscouting.com/players/wes-brown/ But his games played per season is not that bad, considering he is injury prone like some on here say, or that he had other world class defenders to contend with in the United squad. 10/11 12 games played 09/10 26 games played 08/09 15 games played 07/08 49 games played 06/07 32 games played 05/06 31 games played 04/05 33 games played
SUNDERLAND are set to turn their attentions to Birmingham City defender Scott Dann, should they miss out on Wes Brown and John O’Shea. The Black Cats have already had a £12 million joint-bid for the Manchester United pair – and midfielder Darron Gibson – accepted by the Old Trafford outfit. But agreeing terms with the trio has proved less straightforward. The Sunday Sun understands Arsenal and Celtic are now lining up moves for O’Shea, while Stoke City are interested in Brown – who is known to favour staying nearer the North West. Steve Bruce is believed to have enquired about Dann during negotiations to sign Craig Gardner from the Blues last week. However, Sunderland could face competition from Chelsea and Arsenal for the 24-year-old. One paper says one thing, yet another something different. Believe it when it's confirmed.
