For your lot to stay up. Sounds easy. Too good to go down, surely......until you see that you've only won one in the last 10 You need to win soon though! Luckily for you, there are 3 pretty poor teams in the shape of Leicester, Burnley and QPR......but it only takes one of these to pick up some results......I feel Villa will respond to having a new manager but Sunderland will be sucked into the fight.....
Nah, we don't need 4 wins at all. 36 will be enough to stay up. We need 2 wins and a couple of draws. If we beat Newcastle in our next game we'll be as good as out of it. However, given we've only won 2 in 16 it's hardly a given. Truly ****ing awful season.
36 points is low. The bottom 3 are truly awful though......but It only needs one of those teams to string together 3 wins and you're in the mix.....that said, no sign of that to date and your 6 point cushion with much better GD should easily be enough. To think, a couple of years ago, you couldn't separate our teams!
You don't need to go back 2 years - try Christmas ffs http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/...ate=1419206399999&tableView=CURRENT_STANDINGS
So glad you posted this thread and pointed out what you have as Tobes and I hadn't noticed what predicament we are In.....lol
I think that Martinez is struggling with the Europa League and the lack of time to work on the defence is really telling. Tim Howard looks half the player he was last season too, for some reason. Might need to bring someone in to help him with that side of the game, as it's never been his strongest point. Seems to play a host of defensive midfielders and then attempt an attacking game, from what I've seen. Not sure he's getting the best out of the younger players, either. Should have enough to comfortably avoid a relegation battle, though. Need to do some sorting out in the summer.
No mate, that's a red herring. We played 12 games between the last group game and the 1st knockout match and we only won 2 of them - with one being the one directly after the last group game. Osman's book came out recently and he said that they don;t even practice defending set pieces under Martinez, as he doesn't see the value in it! Not surprisingly we've sieved hatfuls from set plays this season You're right about the DM's though, playing 2 DM's at home to Leicester and Hull? Really? I hope we get rid of him in May tbh (or maybe sooner). Only a miracle in the EL can save him now imo.
I would like to get your views on who you would like to replace him? For me, he mirrors Moyes, one great season followed by a stinker, for me he deserves time
I think the Moyes comparison holds no water tbh, as it was a totally different time, with a much lesser squad. The squad Martinez is currently working with was deemed by many Blues (me included) to be the best we'd had since the Kendall MKI days. What he's delivered with that squad this season, is woeful in terms of the league. I think he'll keep us up, but that's hardly an accolade. Maybe his success last season should entitle him to another crack at it come August, and I fully expect Bill to take that view, so my opinion on a fitting successor is almost certainly moot. As it stands I think there'd be plenty of willing takers.
Well you did say you would like shot of him in May, not having a pop....Just liked to know who you would prefer. Bookies have Laudrup, would prefer to have Royle than him
Not sure about Laudrup he's got a record of being a bit precious and waltzing off at the drop of a hat, I can't see him 'getting' Everton tbh. I'd have Koeman, but I doubt he'd come Bilic is doing OK, but a lot of Blues would never have him McClaren is a great coach, but not sure he's a great manager (I've heard Bill rates him highly btw) Beyond them, who knows? De Boer? young Howe? Lennon?
Glad you mentioned Howe, he would be the only one from the list for me personally. Bilic, like you said
