The only saving grace about 8pm new years day is it isnt 12.30 new years day like a couple of seasons ago
And let's be honest, how many people who really shouldn't be driving will be going to the game without the option of public transport.
I thought I would hate last years new year 8pm kick off but I actually quite liked it. And it snowed !
Absolute f*ck on. Already re-arranged work as I was due to be on-call the 27th, had sorted cover for the kids too. Now need to grovel with work to swap again. Sky Sports are arseholes.
won't lie, the new times suit me. got a family gathering when back up north for christmas which was slotted in on the 27th. Shifting the game to the 28th vs leeds means I can definitely the gathering and the match. also, head back to london on the 2nd, so have a day to decompress before spuds on sunday. got a ticket in their home end with a fellow Mackem - he is from down here, not just based here, so he can do the talking....
8pm on NYD is crap for anyone who relies on public transport. As for me, we usually do a second Christmas dinner on NYD with family we don't see on Christmas day. NYD evening is my time for laying on the sofa with a full belly and farting.
My vodka soaked brain can’t remember who we played last New Years Day. Can someone remind me? I can remember Blackburn away on Boxing Day and Stoke away on the 29th, but the minds gone blank for NYD
