That's what ive got before I go around the world travelling for 9 months.

Does any of the R's fans in Peru, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bali have any recommendations of the best place to get up to date news on Rangers and the results, and even maybe the odd live game, or just afew drinks with a fellow R?

I'm going to miss the football so much and my dad has promised to email me a report after every game but I'm not sure that's enough, I check not606 every day just incase there's a story I haven't heard about, or a rumour that hasn't been passed on by 3 other people!

I've had a season ticket for about 13 years and went regularly before that. I bought a season ticket this year knowing I was going away but wanted to pass it on to my young nephew so he could get the Rangers bug and by the time I get back there will be 4 generations of my family going every week. At the moment we have 3, me my dad and my grandad.

Anyway, long post I know for someone that doesn't contribute alot but thought it would be good to try and meet some more R's on my trip!

Bring a short wave radio and do what my dad did for 30 years in Peru before the Internet was invented or alternatively do as Queens suggests! Most cafes, bars, restaurants in Peru have free wifi and there are loads of Internet places where you can pay a sol (20p) to use a computer for an hour. If you're in Lima after January let me know.

    Hi ReadingRanger,

Being based in south east asia (Kuching- Malaysia/Borneo) I have found the hoops coverage to be excellent on Astro (equivalent to Sky), and have seen three live games on TV so far this season.

Shame we got relegated, cos the coverage was amazing last season, almost every game on TV due to the Malaysian connection.

Lots of bars will show the games. Do you have an ipad or smartphone? Get the app "caught offside", excellent for news feeds. "Football Family" is decent too.

If you head to Kuching, and defo worth a visit especially for the beaches, food and orangutan's, drop me a line and will gladly meet for a beer :)

There's a large group of us in Melbourne (Queens will attest to that), there'll be a gathering for the Reading game at a City pub - The Turf Bar. That's where we get to see the televised matches. I bought a Setanta subscription to get the Championship games - the online bit worked well for the Leeds game. I'm sure we'll get more dates soon - provided we keep winning.

When you get to Melbourne, let us know and we'll make sure you get some Hoops dialogue going.

I was in India for 8 months until recently and I often managed to get all the details on QPR via the internet. I even managed to watch two games on tv over there and probably could have watched more. Obviously watching them on tv will be harder now that we're in the Championship. But as long as you have the internet I don't see what the problem will be.

PS..Reading. I know (from experience) setting dates is very hard when you are travelling...you turn up in Bali and meet 3 Sweedish girls and your plans go to pot..etc..or was that just me?

Anyway, what kind of time frame have you got? When "roughly" do you think you may be in this neck of the woods....we'll put a welcome on for you and we may eve do a "barbie" for you at Farflungs place !! <ok>

Thanks for your replies gents, 1 down 3 to go, would be great if I can go away having not lost a game!

Queens you're right about dates! At the moment all I know is I get to Australia (Cairns) on the 5th of January and leave 3 months later from Perth. It would be great to get the chance to meet up with some R's fans for afew beers somewhere else in the world and would be brilliant to get the chance to watch a game, hopefully by chance at some point we'll have a televised game when I'm in close to some of you!

PreuvianHoopster I'm in Peru for 3 weeks next month so looks like ill miss you, how are Rangers thought of out there? Would people recognise my shirt if I wore it or did our recent 2 years in the top flight not break us in to the South American market?

Newbury I went to Borneo last year and hope to get out that way again this time. I was in the rain forest in the middle of nowhere on the east side of Borneo and one of the local kids, a boy of about 6 or 7, was untying out small boat ready for us to go out on the river to see some wildlife and when he turned around he was wearing a pair of Rangers shorts! Couldn't believe it, I never did see him again to shake his hand. Great country!
