Not done that for 12 years apparantly, not conceded a goal in the league since 2nd January. We've rode our luck at times but think that deserves a mention, so well done to the defenders
Couldn't agree more, any good team has a solid back four/five, and we have one of the best in the league.
Manonne will be enjoying all these bonuses. He will have forgotten that disasterous night in Greece already.
Mannone has been the missing piece in the puzzle. The defenders seem more comfortable with him behind them. I hope he's our first signing in the summer.
Totally agree, and with this I mention a point I said in another thread. Did anyone else notice the fact Chris Wood was playing for them upfront; the guy that scored against us for Birmingham earlier in the season? Look at the difference, there was absolutely NO problem today, Hobbs and Chester were outstanding (well, count against the first 10 minutes for Chester). Things are looking really good now. Dare to dream!
Chester really is a quality player. So composed on the ball it's unbelievable. If we don't go up this season I'll be amazed if he's still with us next season.
Does anyone know what Mannone's record is overall from his loan spells with us. I bet it's pretty impressive.
I thought that Hobbs was very good today. I notice that some people moan when he is on the ball, as he seems to be on the ball a fair amount, I think he is the "default" guy in the defence to pick out Evans/McKenna or somebody further forward. Anyway, I don't think he does too bad of a job on the ball, but what I care about is his defensive work, and he does that brilliantly. Seems to be growing more and more confident with every game. Great to see him score a goal as well, if he could net from corners once every few games that would be perfect. It goes without sayings that Chester is quality. Then Rosenior gives us so much more, both in defence and in attack - he is the best option for our midfielders when the ball is in the middle at least 50% of the time, and he never gets greedy with it either. Dawson continues to impress when I thought that he was finished. As for Mannone, he seems to command lot of respect. I noticed that we had a free kick around 1/4 up the pitch, and Rosenior/Chester was going to take it, but he gave a shout and they immediately walked up the pitch. I know it is only a small thing, but it shows both his confidence to command the players, and their trust in him, just shows that he improves our back line.
Your right he is a class act, if he was 6ft.2ins he would be a world beater and probably the best centre back in the country.
In Mannone we trust, he's a great keeper and I hope we can prise him away from Arsenal, their fans don't give two monkeys about him, I was having a discussion with them when he dropped that clanger in the Champions League, they are welcome to Wscenseny or whatever his name his I prefer Mannone
