Brendan Rodgers has an open invitation to give *Spain coach Vicente del Bosque a visit as he bids to get his new Liverpool team playing like European and world champions. And the Kop boss has made a new move for *Fulham star Clint Dempsey after losing out to Spurs in the battle to sign Gylfi *Sigurdsson. Del Bosque has secured a personal historic treble of the Champions League, World Cup and European Championship by leading Spain to Euro 2012 glory . And the former Real *Madrid manager rates Rodgers so highly that he has offered to pass on his knowledge to the 39-year-old Northern Irishman. Rodgers had been due to visit Spain’s pre Euro 2012 training camp in Austria, but was forced to cancel while he moved from Swansea to Liverpool. But now the Euros are over, Del Bosque has told Rodgers he can still drop in on a Spanish get-together whenever he wants or visit the 61-year-old personally to discuss their ideas and philosophies. The news will delight *Liverpool’s FSG owners, who appointed Rodgers *because they are desperate for the Anfield team to play more entertaining and *progressive football. A source close to Rodgers said: “It is obviously a *difficult time to find a date at the moment, but Brendan has an open invitation to meet Del Bosque and watch Spain train. “I’m sure he will take up the offer at some point *because Brendan loves to talk to people about the game, particularly very successful people.” Rodgers speaks fluent Spanish and first crossed paths with Del Bosque when they were working in youth football, the *Spaniard with Real Madrid and the Liverpool boss with *Reading. The pair were put back in contact by a mutual friend.
why would you not want 4-6-0 when Spain won the Euro's with it, and Barcalona arn't too bad either. Granted spain were boring most the tournament but it worked and also the final showed taht the formation can be exciting
The disadvantage about 4-6-0 is the lack of a striker, obviously. The advantage of 4-6-0 is that the 6 midfield players can all score goals. Unfortunately we don't even have 1 midfield player that can score goals, so how we're going to magically end up with 6 is a mystery to me.
Tbf the 0 striker option is something that may be used depending on the opposition I think the formation may be used during the season (he did it with Swansea once last season) but sparingly, I expect the usual Rodgers and Spain formation of 4-3-3 to be used.
Agreed I just can't see it and anyway I find it hard to really describe Spains formation as a 0 up front when you see 3 or 4 players pressing opposition defences the way they do. Our current squad is nowhere near up to playing this way yet. Maybe it will be in the future but at the moment it certainly won't be his plan A or even B.
Exactly, they don't have a 'focal point' to their attack but they have four players alternating in attack which means the defenders do not know who to pick up / are being constantly moved about. We sort of did this last season when it was two of Suarez, Bellamy or Kuyt up top
del bos is a joker... the guy is the luckiest man on the planet getting to thorw two top teams together and take on ireland.... had ronaldo shot properly or italy had done them i nthe very first game of thier group we could be looking at a busted flush. if you've iniesta, zaxi etc you should be winning...
I love the way Spain play. To be honest, Del Bosque forgets more about football when he takes a piss than we'll ever know, so... If he plays a system, it's because he realises it's best. Spain scored 12 and conceded 1 at the Euros. Only Italy, I believe, had more shots on goal. Boring? Never. Don't forget he was a very successful club manager and player also.
But it helps when you have the greatest crop of players in history. I reckon I could win the euro's with that team. would be interesting to see what he could do with Ireland, not a lot I imagine.
Spain have always had good players, but only two coaches have ever won with them. Also, Del Bosque was key to managing the Madrid/Barca split, if you believe what Casillas etc say. There are lots of great teams, but Del Bosque's tactics have made Spain historic winners. The system is everything, control is vital... I imagine it's hard to exact such discipline from players.
he could pick and play james mc carthy, james mc clean, wes hoolahan, seamus coleman. and never even mention paul green, paul mc shane, glen whelan. that'd be good enough for me
