Bit of bad luck there. That's the thing about booking early these days though, you just never know when there's going to be a rearranged fixture due to one thing or another.

If you can't get a refund you may as well just come over and have good time in town without going to the game. Could do worse.

They wont change the fixture massively will they? Might just be a day or 2, so you could be in luck.

It'll probably switch to midweek that'll be time off work and more expense but I'll come over anyway for a cultural weekend!

Man Utd will play on either the 16th or 17th, meaning a midweek game whenever they aren't in the Champions League. To be fair, these are the things you have to look out for before you book as anything can happen.

Which hotel are you staying in? We should all email them having a go for not allowing you to switch the date.

Thats a bitch, but it probably wont be too much later if you can afford (money & work wise) to stay there till midweek.

I'd be more than happy to comment on their uncompassionate service. Enough mails and bad publicity would be worse for them than a refund.

Cheers I'll have a look at that,I don't mind taking a hit on the flights and if I could change hotel from Fri/Sat to Tues/Weds I'd be happy.

I've worked as a hotel manager for a lot of years and would suggest that you contact the hotel's reservations manager, explain the circumstances and ask if they can move the booking to another date when you know the match will be played from Saturday 16th, the likelyhood is that they will be able to resell the room for the saturday at a higher rate as I note they are showing no availability on their website for the 16th now. If you have prepaid on a low rate then they could just implement policy and refuse to move it, tends to be if you talk to a manager that makes the decision they will assist and help you, if you send any nasty emails or anyone else does then they will more than likely not help.

Thanks for that when I get the new match date I'll give them a ring and see what they can do.

By the way we have 2 rooms booked do you reckon that might give us more bargaining power?

I would consider it if I was the manager concerned, I would give them a call now even though the dates not confirmed for the match yet as you can at least get them to indicate whether they would be helpful in moving the booking or are just gonna be arses about it and stick to policy, if they stick to policy stay calm and ask to speak to a senior manager who has the option to override the policy.
