I always assumed we lined up like this

    Harper
    Simpson-Coloccini-Williamson-Enrique
    Barton-Nolan-Tiote-Guti
    Best-Loverman

But MotD lined us up like this

    Harper
    Simpson-Coloccini-Williamson-Enrique
    ---------Barton-Tiote---------
    Loverman--Nolan---Guti---
    --------Best-----

May be a dumb question but I may just be dumb....

    6 and 2 3's really mate.

I think it's more of a case where we interchange between

    Harps
    Simmo - Willow - Colo - Jose
    Tiote
    Lover - Barton - Nolan - Jonas
    Best

    And (same back 5)
    Barton - Tiote - Nolan - Jonas
    Lover - Best

Depending on how the game is going.

    Formations <drool>

I'm off for a quick tug....

I see us lining up with a 5 man midfield and one up front when all players are fit

Yeah it will depend on the game and the circumstances so probably 4-2-3-1 away from homw because we have 2 holding midfielders making us sounder at the back but still giving us attacking options. It was this formation that Hodgson failed with at Liverpool. 4-4-2 at home or when going for the win allows us to commit more men more easily

4-4-2 suits us better. Best isn't good enough at holding the ball up to play up front on his own.

Against Arsenal we did play 4-2-3-1 for the first half, Lover was on the wing and didnt look comfortable. As OT says, I think with our midfield we should be playing 5 of them.
