So 2 games to go of a very strange season. A bad start followed by a number of quick signings, a good run in the league, a blip followed by another good run and just recently a few disappointing results as maybe the last few months has caught up on us ... and certainly RVP. If we can finish third then the season wouldn't have been a disaster but a few new (quality) signings need to be made in the summer. We need to stay ahead of the pack as there may not be much between Tottenham, Newcastle, Liverpool and even Everton next season and I expect Chelsea to be challenging for the title again along with the 2 Manchester teams. But that is for another day, we need to finish third and then worry about how to improve. A win against Norwich at home will finally put us out of Chelsea's reach and assuming Newcastle fail to beat Man C then they would not be able to catch us either (due to their poor goal difference). That leaves Tottenham who face Aston Villa away and then Fulham at home. Those two matches both look winnable but Tottenham are great at last day slip ups so really 4 points is the most they will probably achieve. This means that we will need a point against WBA to avoid missing out on goal difference but I think we will do that ... just. So my prediction for positions 3 - 6 are as follows: 3) Arsenal 4) Tottenham 5) Newcastle 6) Chelsea COME ON ARSENAL!!
It's us or Spurs for 3rd place and it could go to the wire. As always it shoud not and need not have come to this. The casual attitude of players to games like QPR, Wigan, Blackburn and Swansea has cost us dearly once again. They owe it to the fans and themselves to get the 2 much needed wins.
Its like we raise our game to match the biggest teams and lower our game to match the smaller teams. Therefore each game is just as hard to win and with a few exceptions (including Man U at OT and Blackburn at the Emirates) the result is close.
Did not see the game last night, but with a 4-1 scoreline, it appears spuds have gotten their early season mojo back, or maybe now Harry knows he is not going off to manage Engerland, he might as well do well to keep himself in a job next season.
To think we had 10 defeats (pray no more!) - we could do with analysis of the teams we used and opponents that lead to that. Must be something to learn from so many disasters?
I think We'll finish level on points with Spurs but lower goal difference. I'd find it funny if Spurs finish 4th and Chavs win the CL. XD
I reckon you have the positions spot on Abraham We haven't been a top four team until RDM took over, and I'd have to say that the Toon and Spuds deserve it more on merit...we've had our chance to overtake them and fluffed it. My one hope is that we can scrape past, or even thump in a dreamers view, Bayern and consign the Spuds to Europa...that would be a beaut!
