Was only a matter of time, till it happened.

Police have discovered a 3D printer which they believe criminals were using to try to make a gun, Sky News can reveal.

In what is believed to be the first case of its kind, officers in Manchester on Thursday seized a printer and other components potentially used in the manufacture of firearms during a raid.

As part of an operation to target organised crime gangs in the city, police found a trigger and a magazine they believe is capable of holding bullets, both of which are thought to have been made using the printer.

Officers believe the raid - in the Bagley area of the city - could have uncovered what could be Britain's first 3D gun factory.

They said you couldn't fire the gun, it'd probably explode in your face.

3D printed guns are far from being a threat. You can use loads of different things to kill people, I'd be more worried about cars and knives.

Police have been informed but they didn't sound interested. Told them you're a Celtic fan and the guy dropped the phone and sirens started blaring. They should be with you in about 30 seconds......

Given that the inner workings of a car are more complex than those of a gun, why would it be easier to print a 3D car?

It wouldn't be. That's why I didn't say 'printed cars and knives'.

Pfft, small fry. There are build your own drone kits for sale online. Some fella in America fashioned his own Reaper drone sort of replica and made his own improvised Hellfire missile from fireworks or something. Proceeded to obliterate his garden shed from 250m away, killing his pot bellied pig in the process

Some bloke in Tajikistan also built his own time machine. It's amazing what people can achieve with a bit of inspiration and a lot of dedication.
