    Moving away from the Bruce/Quinn/Gyan articles, I just wanna get a grip on this.

    Now, i wasn't present, as circumstances meant I couldn't leave Spain, I went to an SAFC supporters bar over here, with bigjohnsafc and his brother (good lads btw).

    First thing we notice is the empty seats, in every stand.

    Why?

    Anyone on here a non-attendee? or no one?

    The Gyan story broke after most would have left for the game, not that.

    We were generally okay with the Bendtner signing, many were optimistic, not that.

    Any clues?

    Don't mention the 'economic climate', we accept and know about that, that would account for a crowd around 40k.

    I don't care what anyone says, 36,699, Saturday kick off against one of the big 4, is a **** show.

    Anyone got a clue?

    I believe that it's because we are not Barcelona, and even then some would think it was not good enough...

    So,

    After 3 league games including 2 solid away points the fans are throwing in the towel?

    It's a poor ****ing show, no 2 ways about it, weather looked smashing as well.

    It's not the team that's in decline, it's the whole club, we can include ourselves in that, i'll include myself, even though i live 1300 miles away, and have attended 50% of the seasons home games to date.

    The Gyan story was on SAFC.com this morning and might have had something to do with it. Dunno.

    Sorry mate don't think anyone is expecting Barcelona.

    I have said before my son has paid for his mates to go, each time they have watched **** performances.
    Two of his mates who are working have stopped going because of what they have seen.
    My son didn't renew his season ticket, but is still going and will be just like I was and went no matter what.
    No matter how you try to put good spin on our recent home record it looks ****e.
    Like I said when Quinn had a go at the pub watchers, the only way to get them through the gate is to give them something to enjoy watching, not suffering!

    Its because everyone apart form RAW can see the whole thing is ****ed BB.

    I dont expect Barcelona at all but I do expect us to compete and look like a Premiership team not a pub one. I go because I have a season card. Those that dont have made their mind up after 4 games. Bruce is finished. I only hope the decision is made by Short before all we have to look forward to is a desperate rescue mission form a new manager in March. People havent bought into the Bruce management and they are hardly likely to now. The crowd was poor and flat because it fully expected the team to lie down and get royally arse ****ed.

    Disappointingly, they were not let down.

    RAW, far from Barca, it wont be long before its a Championship team we will be with Bruce as manager.

    You can't put a good spin on 8 defeats in 9.

    Still, we averaged 40k last season, we won't get near that, we know due to the GNR we'll likely see 32k for Stoke.

    Jobs ****ed.

    I think that fans have seen through the "sound bites" being spouted out by Bruce,and realised that he is wrecking our club,not playing attractive football,and not even looking like we know how to score a goal!We all want our team to succeed,but,come on,what we have produced this season is garbage!Get him out'and the fans will return.You can be sure that Mr Short will have seen the empty seats...let's hope he sees that the problem is the clueless manager!!How many home games have we won in six months??

    Lads' Chelsea may be a top four club, but they don't draw the crowds!!! Liverpool, Manchester Red and Blue, Arsenal all draw bigger crowds. And just wait til we are back, you got more when we met in the Championship!!! Sunderland need to keep heads up and get get Bruce out, good luck lads! Looking forward to fish and chips before our next Premiership game.

    8 defeats in 9 home games.

    you dont really have to ask anymore questions kidda. I dare bet that if a new manager was brought in for the Stoke game, such as O Neill, Hughes or Moyes, there would be a sell out. Its not the club or the players that are keeping fans away, its the plank in charge of the team and the inevitable boredom he has instilled into home games.

    I will comfortably predict a smaller crowd next Sunday than today.

    The thing is last season, IMHO people were keep expecting Bruce to turn it round, turning up with that hope.
    It never happened and they fear the worst now.

    Not really 'supporting' the club though, the stay-aways.

    I'd suggest they are some of the more vocally critical ones on here like.

    MR,

    Get that to an extent mate, course i do, but these people will say 'SAFC is in me blood'.

    Is it ****, or you'd go, and try lift the team.

    We had a similar problem against Le Arse. As you all know, cos you mocked.

    But, the reasons we stated, will apply for you too. There will still be a few people away on holidays etc, and I do believe there was another relatively large music festival on this weekend (Bestival. Im sure its this weekend).

    Come October, we'll both start filling our respective stadiums.

    As an extra comment from my earlier reply,Bruce has spent a fortune on championship players and premiership players that are used to losing!!He says that he was buying players with the winning mentality when he bought O'Shea and Brown.What did he buy when he bought players that had just been relegated??Losers!!!

    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
    Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

    If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with triumph and disaster
    And treat those two imposters just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
    And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breath a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
    Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
    And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

    Wise words from Kipling which I try to live up to...<ok>

    BB I dont think its fair to blame the fans for not coming when the 'entertainment' on show is 3rd rate. When we constantly play 1 up front at home and try the big bluff of telling the world Sessegnon is a striker (when he clearly isn't), you can hardly blame people for giving up. Everyone knew we would be beaten today and everyone knew that we'd play 1 up front - even if Gyan was fit and had stayed.

    I am fast losing the will to go to home games mate and only the fact that 2 of my direct debits have been taken keep me interested. Ask me if I am looking forward to next Sunday and I'd be lying if I said yes.

    Its just a case of another day of endurance, not enjoyment.

    BB I would go the other way it's the teams responsibility to lift the crowd not the other way round.
    They are getting paid enough to do their job.
