Statisticians Opta: "Liverpool have had more shots (35) in this game so far than any side has managed in a Premier League match this season."
Not great conversion is it? Still need another striker of quality to cover us when Sturridge/Suarez aren't playing. Another poacher. Our goal difference is +15 which is actually very good - but we don't win enough. We either lose by a couple of win by quite a few.
Wonder what the top 4s conversion rate would have been had they had that many attempts in a game? (Disregarding Torres) . For me this is still a problem as we waste so many chances then we concede and every body takes it out on the defence. If we were more clinical (like Utd) then it wouldn't be so much of a concern if we concede a couple (like Utd) . I have never seen a team have so many shots blocked or deflected either. It's great we create so much but we must be more deadly. If we could solve that problem then we would be top 4 You only have to look at our last 2 games to see how true that is.
Sturridge makes a big difference when he plays but his conversion rate is possibly worse than Suarez's
the laudrup myth has exploded down here after todays performance or lack of , very naieve team selection from him today absolutely shocking, but then you can only play what is in front of you and we were punished fairly and squarely this afternoon
I saw that, quite amusing that he's been the best thing since sliced bread all season then suddenly, after one mistake in one game he is being questioned I don't understand his thinking behind the team selection but I certainly don't mind the result of that decision
You can certainly see the different threat up front when Sturridge plays ( he got MOM today ?) even when he's not totally on his game he allows the burden to be lifted off Suarez who plays a much freer roll. This is very apparent between today's performance and Mondays ( yes I know WBA were at full strength )in that we were much more inventive and sturridges ability to hold the ball is vital to our style. Add courthino into that, who,I thought started off quiet but really impressed as the match progressed, and we look a very potent team. Just improve the end product. We also need downing to contribute with goals if he is going to be playing every week. It's a shame about Borini as it reduces our options up front. Same for sterling,he needs to score and provide more when he gets his chance.
Not sure about Sturridge as MOTM, albeit without his shooting boots on again but Suarez was superb and still managed to bag one. Danny was superb in the final quarter of the game though, brilliantly holding onto possession despite being in tight situations
