...is that the lowest we've had in a game since we were in the Premier League?

For one I'm not going to complain, I've been doing that when we've had 65% plus and done nothing with the ball other than pass backwards and sideways

The only stat that should concern anyone concern anyone is the final score stat, and we won. The 35% stat shows that we have learnt how to defend away from home by letting them keep the ball and do nothing with it as we're closing them down

Fulham should have scored a couple, let's not hide that fact. Specially Kacaniklic with the loose ball, he was way closer than Dave, ducked out the challenge.

We'd have gone ****ing mental if one of our forwards did that.

Abel should have slotted with his 1on1! The final score is what matters

I think when Atletico Madrid won the league a couple of years ago incredibly the stats for the entire season showed the opposing teams had the ball more than they did. So possession isn't everything.

My point was it wasn't a totally dominant defensive display. The defence still conceded enough good chances to lose the game comfortably, a combination of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping let us off.

As I mentioned on another thread I do get the feeling that SB says to the team when we are away from home keep it tight for the first 20 minutes, and then kick on from there. This is probably why we go out with a negative mind set, and invite team on to us.

At the start of the season a lot of teams won matches with low possession percentages. As people say, it's goals that matter. Now we seem to be attacking with more intelligence and thought rather than passing backwards and sideways. What amazes me is Maloney can't get on the pitch when he seems the most intelligent attacking player we have. Not that we should change things to accommodate him.

Downside being he doesn't offer as much protection to Robbo when he bombs forward as Clucas does

I get what everyone is saying, especially about goals being the only stat which counts, but I was just curious as to how, in a season where we have consistently enjoyed high possession stats, we had such a low stat against a team towards the bottom of the league.

Large amounts of Possession means nothing on its own. It is what you do when you have it that matters most.

    Just ask Fulham. <laugh>

    Correct.

Hernandez needs to learn how to go around the goalie and then it is a case of a simple tap in. Vardy and Ighalo on Saturday showed what to do in a 1 on 1 situation.

I watched the match on a good stream, Fulham were really patient in their build up with lots of sideways and back passes. Their possession was mostly in non-threatening areas ............ they had a lot of the ball, didn't really threaten as much as 65% would suggest, despite far less possession we had more shots on goal, more on target ............... and more goals!

It's not the first time, we won away at Cardiff with 37% possession.

FULHAM shots on target 2 HULL CITY shots on target 3
FULHAM shots off target 7 HULL CITY shots off target 9
    Corners 4 each

    So much for possession then.

Stats just serve to confuse. There really is no substitute for watching a game.
