Opening day defeat is not a great way to start the season but 3 post moaning about it is a disappointment, pre season went well, transfers look good and I for one are more hopeful than I have been for many years. Ok so I was not at the game so can not comment about the performance but I wonder where all the pre season hope has gone so quickly? Most people seem to think Reading will be there or there abouts at the end of the season so is a 2.1 loss really a reason to be so down? Of course a win would have been nice but lets be a bit more positive eh.

Nice post and fully agree. I think however if you read the threads to the end most of us are still feeling positive

Can't understand why the mood has gone down hill so quickly, not many sides will go to Reading and give them a game like we did.

Spanish is probably the only one i slightly agree with (and i mean slightly), yes we don't have this 25 goals a season scorer, but in reality who does in this league? only a handful of clubs all who have parachute payments to be able to afford them.

For me, we have moved forward by only spending 50k, which is a huge achievement and you never know we might get some more players in January if we are in the race for promotion.

I think most people are still feeling positive but I think people who were saying who have a quality squad are now realising we don't but I think that was obvious anyway. Having a good squad was never going to be the reason why we do well this season anyway.

Im still positive after the match and agree Reading will do very well this season as they certainly should do with that squad and budget. For me Loach was badly at fault with the first goal, it was a regulation " come and catch the cross " situation but instead he stayed on his line so was out of position when Mings came under pressure, I hope Gerken will be given a chance now. In the second half Hyam and Scuse got overwhelmed in midfield as Tabb and Edwards dropped back to help out the young full backs so there was too much space for Reading to work in and no challenges being made.
On a different note it was good to meet up with fellow 606er Westlake 33, nice to meet you Westy.
