Hughton said it was his priority to improve the defence and he certainly has and as long as we keep getting points the attacking display isn't so important. Don't think we'll get one against a free-scoring Manchester United next week though, we can probably look forward to heavy tonking lead by Robin van Persie's habitual brace against us.
Whilst this is great, it was a poor Reading side and we should have been able to beat them. We didn't play at all well today in my opinion, gave the ball away far too often.
Too much long ball in the first half but thought we played some nice stuff in the 2nd and if Holty had put one of those headers away we'd be travelling down the M4 with 3 points. Reading were as poor as Villa & QPR in my opinion, hope we don't regret turning one of these draws into a win. But if we can keep collecting away points, especially against our so called relegation rivals we'll be OK.
A dire performance and still managed to get a point and a clean sheet away from home, for a team like us that is important. It also shows why reading are where they are, they should have beaten us and they didnt and they really are going to have long old slog i reckon this season!
Every point is precious but not every performance is pleasureable and in this case memorable. Johnson had his worse game for a while so we just didn't give Hoolahan much cover. And we just didn't get any momentum or pattern going. They were poor and there for the taking. We have now missed a chance with our last two away games for the first away win. Guilty of missing chances again of course particularly Holt. I guess next week we have to let them score first. Once again they have come from behind to win
I think we went there with the mindset to get a draw. Great defending by our boys, except the bit in the first half were basong dithered in the box and turner nearly og. The passing wasn't quick enough, and all the long ballss to holt, well gorkks won most of them he was massive in the air I like reading, but you can see why they are in the bottom 3 - apart for the wingers they lack quality.
