Well after the nerve shredding finger nail biting finish to the 1st test we move to the Home of Cricket for the 2nd test. With the Capital gripped in heatwave conditions (although our Aussie friends would probably describe 29 & 30 degrees as Mild) for the next week or so we could be in for another cracker. England have dropped Finn for Bresnan and the Aussies have made 2 changes from Trent Bridge. England won toss and are to bat, pitch is a belter for batting so plan is to bat and bat and bat and bat etc until the Aussies are out of the game and are too knackered to put up any resistance. The Queen is meeting the sides today hence slightly late start......bring it on.....
Great to see cameras in the Long Room for the first time.. and the convicts behaving themselves as the Queen inspected them..
Good recovery from Trott & Bell.....80/3 at lunch......would say that the Aussies will be the happier getting 3 early wickets on a good batting pitch. First hour after lunch will be interesting, if they get say 5 down then England will be in real trouble, but if Bell & Trott still there and they have added 40 or 50 realtively untroubled then a big score could still be on the cards....
Good 50 from Bell.....Trott wicket thrown away when a big score was there for the taking......79 runs in session so far from 18 overs...
Looking a little better now chaps. Need to get to 300 and hope for a strong second innings. Would take a draw at the moment.
Get through to tea in a few minutes time only loosing Trott and that will be a decent session for England.......Huge let off for Bairstow....
Well done Ian Bell.....super 100....now push on and get a big score. England have dug themselves out of a hole...good comeback 267/4 from 28/3
England doing their best to make every Test much tighter than it needs to be. Once again Anderson and Swann to bail us out.
The convicts have behaving themselves for over 200 years. We just had the nous to get away from that awful weather you have and to put our feet up and enjoy life in the country we call, Oz. Every couple of years, just to keep you chaps happy, we wander back to show you how to play cricket. After leading the world for so many years, thought we'd be sporting and let you Poms enjoy your moment in the sunshine. Aussie
