thats what I personally think should be the case. I like Martin but its being shown that he is a caveman of a manager, everything about his management is outdated and I do not want to be to critical of the bloke as I like him but I really think it is time Sunderland moved in a new direction and went the modern way of a young manager with plenty of idea's, a positive man who will look at all possibilities in the transfer market (the world is a big place, people need to tell MoN there is footballers outside of the UK) and bring an attacking approach to SAFC. I never thought we would win today but I thought we would come away with a point, West Brom are on form at the minute but MoN's tactics are absolutely baffling, 1 upfront yet again and a **** poor midfield who can't pass wind let alone a ******* football!!!! Stick me in the midfield and I could do what our lot do. Last week was a great result but it did hide over the cracks abit I thought we were poor last week like we have been all season. At SAFC there is one man I back 100% and that man is Ellis Short, Ellis will make the right decision and if things drastically change which they don't like doing then I think MoN could be out of work and I don't see him getting another job in football management if I am being honest If that does happen we need to go all our for Roberto Martinez and give him 15m in Jan to go and bring in a central midfielder and another player or two on loan. He would bring the fresh idea's, the attacking mentality and sort out this **** poor tactics. Sorry Martin but I think your in the next valley never mind over the hill next 2games are QPR at home and Norwich away, anything less than 3points and he is gone and I cannot see us picking those points up 2bh. Edit: If not Martinez then Di Matteo
This rigid 1 man up front tactic will be the death of Martin if results dont change and soon. That said, its boring and predictable and the stay away fans today are voting with their feet. Martins style of football just doesn't attract punters and that's what will eventually do for him IMO as much as the football.
Er Di Matteo is a 1 striker manager too? Martinez just avoided relegation for the last 2 seasons in a row on the last day of the season? Both ****e imo. I'd sooner see Bally given a try again if MoN left us (which I sincerely hope he doesn't) as he has 3 or 4 years experience of looking after youth and reserve teams now and has done very well.
I'm inclined to agree. Any less than four points in the next two games is dreadful. An utter disaster.
I dont really have a problem with 1 upfront but it depends how you set your team up, if we pushed our wingers up and played them either side of the front man so wud be more of a 4/3/3 then I wouldn't complain if we brought in 2 midfielders to dictate the game, offer, height, power and a few goals but the way MoN uses it doesn't get the best out of anyone
2 games is a load of ****e! I agree o'neil is not covering himself in glory atm but he needs at least jan transfer window and till the end of season to prove himself. I understand I'm going to contradict myself to a certain extent here but reckon o'neil was only ever meant to be an interim manager anyway and I would like to see a younger manager with new ideas come in. Only two I can think of really. Martinez and solksjaer. Both I think would come to us. Martinez turned down Liverpool yes. But that job is a hiding to nowhere att and he knows it. Plus Wigan (no offence) is what I'd class as a bottom 5 side whereas we should be mid table. A good stepping stone for him basically. Solksjaer the same, we're not **** but a good entry level to the premiership before (if he's good enough) a move beyond
Why? Liverpool had 30 years major success appointing from within from the reserve managers and youth set ups. Why not us?
Its just my personal opinion, but we would be throwing Kevin Ball to the lions. Football has moved on. He may be 110% SAFC, but the players aren't. His shouting, fighting motivation would count for diddly squat. Tonight we are talking new manager, I accept that but don't like it because M'ON and SAFC should have been a marriage made in heaven. We all know, it aint working. Sad at the mo. x
If he's sacked before New Year I'll be amazed tbh. He needs to learn to adapt though as his stubborness will be his own undoing, neeone elses.
