Yes I remember it well, we often moan about the modern stadiums, stewards and rules but when you look at how things used to be..
remember this , i'd just got in from the match v aston villa or was it ipswich? anyway it was our last game in another relegation season and my mam was watching the news and this story was dominating, absolutely horrific to see and this very rarely gets talked about, rip bradford fans, your memory lives on
I remember watching it unfold on tv, what a tragedy. I also remember going to Burnden Park, Bolton's old ground years later and lighting a cigerette up whilst standing on concrete at half time, a steward informed me i could not smoke there and would have to go under the main stand. When i got under the main stand i find it is strewn with all sorts of flammable rubbish and including timber so i decided to forego my smoke, It did however show that even though we have moved on there were all to many stadia that had stands constructed out of wood which would have gone up just as it did at Bradford. Do we still have any such stands still in uk football. if so they should be condemned. RIP all those who lost their lioves.
My brother in law was in the stadium that day and these events have haunted him since, being a Teesside lad he is now a season ticket holder with the Smogs and although still living in South Yorks rarely misses a game, he dosen't talk much about that day but has moved on, its just a pity our friends of the Liverpool 96 can't do the same ( see thread Ffs).
